I can disclose that Irish Derby winner Frozen Fire (Montjeu - Flamingo Sea (Woodman)) will be standing in Ireland as a new stallion for 2012.

He really was a one hit wonder wasn't he. Still, hopefully you NH boys on here will know what to make of him. J M does your position as a confidante of great influence give you any insight into what the beggar they are all playing at with regard to 2012 stud fees? Aree they playing Dare and Double Dare as to who jumps first? |

Hi PM. Yes, it's an odd situation as I remember in the 'old days' quite a few farms would have set their fees if not after Book 1, then by the end of Books 2&3, and the stragglers announcing fees in November. I get the feeling that nobody wants to come out and make a mistake - do you recall the bun fight in 2009 where everybody set fees, belatedly realised there was in fact a recession and had to wholesale drop their prices once again?
Strangely enough, I know some of the smaller operations are quite happy to publicly announce their 2012 fees, but as for the bigger boys, I couldn't agree with you more. Can think of quite a few that need a price reduction next year though! |

I seem to remember that the odd one had a double reduction, but I also think that it didn't hurt the stallion masters really as we sort of accepted that it was necessary and didn't hold it against them perhaps. I also have some sympathy with their ditheration this year. We were all calling on here for swingeing cuts a few months ago, but then along comes Tatts and gets us a-thinking all over again. For my money there are still only a few stallions that should hold their ground as some of the old faithfuls who are a little stale round the edges benefitted from the strong markets more than they might have. That type still has a massive opportunity to plummet in popularity any time you like. What says though the stallion man don't give a damn, again  |

He was with de Kock Neil, but the stud has contacts with S Africa and has done a deal for him to stand in Ireland.

Oh right, I didn't even think he'd be good enough for Coolmore NH myself, I thought he'd go off somewhere hot and sandy as a fella used to say. I saw him running in Dubai a few times and had completely forgot about him, his profile fell through the floor.

im baffled that this guy has been consideted breeding material, he won the irish derby thanks to murtagh allowing aldresso volta to block tartan bearer or was in casual conquest. He then was disappointing in the ledger and sold to dekock dubai team but failed to fire and i have seem him go off as third favourate in a 5000£ race in the vaal and he was poor. I dont see how he would make a good prospect for jumping as he failed to train on.
