very interesting stuff in these threads , i have no ans for you i just like reading what you s say about breeding , one thing i didnt relise was how cut throat the breeding world was , if you dont bang in the two year old winner s in your first season your pretty fu*ked , i taught if you owned a good horse that win s a couple of big group ones that s that , just sit back and relax while the money comes in , no wonder people are quick to sell there horse s to the big breeder s , let them take the risk s , also i didnt relise even if your horse wins 10 group 1 s in a row but is by a non blue blood as they seem to be called on either side ,its pretty much not really going to happen , unless your coolmore and have great mares to help kick start your career.intersting stuff keep it up men

Fabre says he's the fastest middle distance horse he ever had[;)], at least the style of the Derby win says he isn't slow, but like lingleed, from reading the excellent contributions of the regulars here, he has very little chance. Very little hype about him for a Coolmore berby winner, I wonder does having him trained in France take something away in that respect?, what Aidan would give for a last to first in a furlong and a half Derby winner, imagine the interviews

i dont know, it really depends on their gameplan, he is their 1st son of montjeu to win the derby(and its always about the derby, they want derby winning sons by all there SW's stallions) and could have been a contender in any race as the PR machine will spout out very shortly. if they decide to send him a few quick early 2yr old type mares and he gets roughly 30-40 runners before oct he could be alright but you know yourself PD its about whats fashionable and he could well be fashionable come sales time. look at Hurricane Run not may 2yr runners last year but his 3yr are a good bunch picking p black type in races over a mile and more (i was suprised that he could produce something that could win a group race over a mile to be honest)

Has zero commercial appeal.  His pedigree is mostly a late maturing staying one. I reckon they would be best off either sending him straight into thier national hunt roster or selling him to stand in France or even Germany where they are not quite so short sighted.

they didnt pick up any dukes at one sale, its not asif they didnt pick up any at tatts and goffs, wait till oct before starting to say that they are or are not supporting their stallion.
standing in france could be viable and lucrative with the french premiums but i doubt it

There is a half sister by Galileo at Ballydoyle that JM paid £900K for last year.  She's called Kissed, has a G1 entry too.  If she turns out to be decent I might reconsider my opinion.

I think he was going to be a hard sell if he'd won the Arc.  Derby was impressive but form (despite inevitable Coolmore blurb about beating multiple grp1 winner Treasure Beach) isnt stacking up.  Sell it to Warren - he can palm it off to the owner breeder toffs for a couple of years but not for me ;)

PS. I'll have a £100 bet with Roy Jones that magnier / demi / Charles OB sign for at least 5 of the top 10 DoM yearlings at the Orby and Bk1

I think Coolmore could make him. I think they are best placed to do so. For me as a staying son of Montjeu finishing early doesn't really make him hugely different to Hurricane Run.

Motivator is disappointing but not quite a catastrophe (commercially a different matter). Hurricane Run is probably better than that.

I look forward to seeing the horse as I will consider any well bred horse with big talent and great confirmation - if the price is right.

Hugely unlikely that he'd get off a short-list mind you. But the owners hold the key. How strong will they go in? A bit later in the season when their new sire plans firm up, we'll see.

I'd say they had a lot of fast mares lined up for St Nick before it all went to pot so maybe he will benefit from that being a Derby winner.

poor derby this year i reckon, no superstars like sts cant see him being an outstanding attraction,
but you never know until they are on the track.

And dont forget he fractured his pastern in the Vintage Stakes as a two year old,  had it pinned together and then went onto run the races he did as a three year old against some very decent horses with it still not healed properly. He had further surgery between 3 and 4 to correct the problem.
If HRE wasnt retired he would have been giving the time to fully recover and not rushed back as the flag bearer for Ballydoyle. The Duke could have been one of the best horses they ever had.

He had a good turn of foot but we didn't see enough of him and sons of Montjeu have been underachieving. He has a better page than them and am sure if he comes at a nice price money will be made on him but for me i dont think he will be on my list

So it's official. Pour Moi is the best prospect to retire to stud since Galileo.

Galileo didn't really become 'Galileo' though until his 2nd and 3rd crop got their arsis in gear.

However, it's bona fide as it was in the R P this morning so the publicity juggernaut is off and running. ( I'm reminded of Steven Spielberg's DUEL ! )

Its only a matter of time before Montjeu gets a top class stallion son. Whether PM is him I dont know but he does seem a little speedier than his usual type.

Hurricane Run is the only other Montjeu standing at Coolmore and although getting criticism on this forum isn't a bad stallion, just not quite good enough. I cant see any reason why connections wouldn't support him with good mares and at the sales, a successful son of Montjeu would be very lucrative.
