They seem to have had one of the hottest sire of sires around but have nothing to follow up from him.

I must be reading your post wrong, but surely you are contradicting yourself. If they "have had one of the hottest sire of sires around " then they must by definition have good stallions standing? |

I presume he means green desert and fact they dont have one of his good sons or grandsons.

green desert is not the force he was and they dont have a stallion in the top 40. its a shame for british breeders as we could do with some extra options.

It seems to be that they like to keep things quite 'smart' and 'classic' at Shadwell doesn't it.
The commercial end of things end up at Derrinstown more often and Derrinstown always seems to have a better grip on it's role in the industry. There have always been more mares in Ireland and the type of commercial breeder that won't touch anything other than the 2yo type of stallion with no pretention to class. So whilst accepting they are therefore an obvious market for a certain type of stallion it does sometimes feel they forget that we would like some of them over here too! If you feel that Sheikh Hamdan's operation isn't getting the right stallions atall, then I suppose you have to say they aren't buying right or breeding successfully either. With Qatar snapping up Strong Suit and 50% of Harbour Watch this week I suppose you could say that would be a good wheeze for them to try, but I suspect that Hamdan's motivation in the game isn't quite in tune with that. My guess is that unless it's home bred it doesn't give him the kick he enjoys most. |

Just watched the recording of that 2yo that won today of Haggas', could be the anwser lads.

collateral form is excellent, he is a well set 2yo type apparently, all aboard, just need a Gr 1 now, which is eminently possible imo

it was watching the colt win today that led me to start this thread. i think an operation of that size could have some better options than they have. you may be right about the dansili colt, but will be a couple of years before he is available |

Nunnery has been a bit unlucky imo. No one could have predicted that Haafhd would be *quite* so bad, & Nayef gone very quiet. Sakhee's allright though for me a bit of an odd bod who gets a few very good horses but hard to predict what you;ll get, sprinter, miler, stayer.
WOnder if Awzaan will get a place on a Shadwell roster either side of the Irish Sea? Guessing not, Haafhd done little to advertise Alhaarth, & Awzaan's form doesnt help us who argue horses shouldnt be retired before 3  |
