I see HRE had ten winners in July

I only have him on 9 for UK in July but I will check my stats. Certainly doing well at the moment.

You are right, HRE has 28 to the end of July, 10 in July itself and one so far in August. Most of his highly rated horses are running in Ireland.

Galileo has always been at the head of the money table for sires but his UK win total has been average-until recently when he has had a glut of winners including a rare AW winner at Kempton and 2 today so far with Crystal Gal and Averroes. Now on 40 for 2011.

Do you keep any Irish stats? I'd say Galileo has a lot of winners in Ireland with Bolger having sent him huge numbers of mares & seemingly half of Ballydoyle being sired by him!!

No I don't. The RP gives you combined totals for GB and Ireland. The Irish Stats are dominated by relatively few sires as Coolmore can find a maiden for most of their Galileos and Montjeus. My main purpose is to see which sires produce the quantity of decent priced wins in maidens and handicaps, which get multiple winners, which produce a lot of beaten favourites etc. to aid my selections. On two very modest GB cards yesterday there were 15 flat races and 7 of those were won by offspring of sires in my top 10 list. 3 races had no qualifiers and there were a total of 23 runners in the other 12. The profit to a 1 point stake was 12 points.

I know this is your thing sageform...blindly backing every Beat Hollow must be producing a big return this year.  40% winners to runners and 39 wins from 230 odd runs.  Only sire better at that fee (in terms of winning not quality) is Dutch Art.

I have certainly been watching the progress of Beat Hollow closely. Very much a staying pedigree, Sadlers Wells-Wemyss Bight, so won't get the volume of wins that the sprinter/milers do. He could well become a very high ranking sire of winners at 10 furlongs and up. There are only a limited number of sires who get wins over 2 miles.

Another treble for Pivotal today brings him to 12 for August-one per day! Now on 60 for the year and rapidly closing on his son, Kyllachy now on 75.

Caspar Netscher was a significant Group 2 win for Dutch Art and his 9th win in GB in August already. Very impressive start for a first season sire.

And another in form sire produces the Nunthorpe winner, Margot Did. Exceed and Excel also on 9 for the month and now 69 for the year, closing on Kyllachy.

Kyllachy still stuck on 75 but E and E now on an impressive 71 (11 in Aug) and Pivotal on 66 (18 in Aug!)

Thanks (belatedly) for your enlightening reply to my observations on the June thread. Looks a very interesting approach. I have a tried and tested (and successful) national hunt angle that I've been using for 5 years and I see great merit in your approach to the flat.

I had hoped I would be able to have 2011 Irish stats for you by now but it remains a work in progress (read holidays and work commitments).
