What a mark he has left though, I wonder is it difficult for them to go on once they give up stallion duties? How do they occupy them, they hardly gelded him did they? or do they just become more malleable and less interested as they get older?

Sadlers Wells was the most successful TB stallion in history,he alone holds the crown.Incredible stallion and very sad news, have in a way been expecting this news for a while.A massive loss to all his connections the star of the show no doubt about it.

Well I visited him in his paddock 3 weeks ago and he looked terrific.

Seems he's just keeled over and called time. Getting it all right even at the very end.

It's simply not possible to compare the generations because breeders, book sizes and international boundaries are all so very different from his fathers day. However domination is all you can ask of the very best and that happens very rarely indeed.

Sadlers brought speed, soundness and great temperament to the breed. We owe him a lot.

Really sad news today, he put not just Coolmore but Ireland on the map his legacy is stamped on both racing codes and in every continent. just like his sire he is a thoroughbred king!

He built Coolmore.  RIP.  I met him once.  He produced a very identifiable type, white blaze, black mane, good girth, could run a bit.

Galileo it closing fast on Sadlers Wells.

Still has a long way to go but my word he is exceptional sire

Probably wasn't the best time to be asking such questions, bit like Jim McGrath suggesting Frankel had left his Derby and St James Palace on the Rowley Mile after the race. But yeah I do wonder how they deal with Stallions who are retired from duty when their blood is upLaugh
