you'd need A LOT of money for my choice (not least to change the law on AI and embryo transfer!)but....
If I'd stolen an egg from Urban Sea, and a frozen straw from Northern Dancer then I think it would produce Pegasus 2. (Timeform rating 150)and he would win the Middle Park and the Dewhurst on the same day! |

If we can go back a few years then it would be Sadlers Wells-Brocade-Habitat. Full sibs to Barathea and Gossamer. I piled into both of those on debut and they started 100/8 and 13/2 respectively if my memory is sound. Both won as they liked. Someone Special is another Habitat mare that I would have loved to own. Her daughters Relatively Special and One So Wonderful also won easily fto.

I quite fancy Melikah (Lammtara x Urban Sea) to Cape Cross. Given that they are in the same ownership, I would have thought it quite an obvious one, but I don't think it happened in 2010.
Prima (welcome back from Safari/Queen Mary/Courchevel (delete as appropriate)) I fear someone has got to your mating first though I gathered the great old girl is moving into 'tricky' territory nowadays.Wily, N.D. wasn't brilliantly fertile perhaps so your otherwise entirely plausible scenario might have been let down by his inability to freeze well. . . ![]() |

potentialmillionaire,
Prima (welcome back from Safari/Queen Mary/Courchevel (delete as appropriate) Is it you who is following us around ?And yes I know that mating has already taken place,I think she has done so incredibly well however tricky she becomes in her later years she is fully entitled to call all the shots!Ladies like her (and a few of the human variety)we all just 'go' with them...........I'm sure you what I mean.Did you go to NMKT this week?If you did what did you think of the great Mawatheeq? and the great moving Equiano(specialist in doing the Chinese shuffle)some of us perhaps are more than qualified to assess his merits for his next job...........but who knows![;)] |

Well, I figure if I eat what slips off the edge of your plate Prima it'll make for a better meal than what sits in the middle of mine
Anyone who's anyone needs a stalker after all. . .Mawatheeq I'm afraid I quite liked. Big strong classy. HOWEVER, there is a whole lot of potential to produce something ocean going I feel! If you could garantee to scale him down a bit you could really hit gold - but there will be no escape route for the many foals that don't do that, so he's a no goer for me. Did you hate him? Equiano I like too as a real example of the sire line. I think he stands a good chance of perpetuating that sire line as a commercial success. Mind you Dad/Grandad were from strong, if slightly plebian sprint families so the Ela Mana Mou ill bred bid and the shocking walk has done him for me I'm afraid. Good luck to those who use him - they might be fine. I'm afraid I'm booked to Showcasing so please be nice about him, did you have a look? Also, I am a little intrigued about Hellvelyn. I didn't see him in Newmarket and I shan't use him but I would like to hear any comments from those who did see him. |

If all the fertility problems on both sides could have been ironed out, I would have loved to have seen Soviet Song covered by Selkirk; two of my all-time favourite milers. Blushing Groom / Miesque Midsummer (dam of Midday & Hot Snap) to Galileo. And a slightly quirky one: Christdalo, a flashy chestnut mare of David Johnson's who was a decent if not top-class hurdler, to ****. |

Elite tried GALILEO-SOVIET SONG and MONTJEU-SOVIET SONG in her first season at stud, but she didn't conceive.
She is currently in foal to SPEIGHTSTOWN, but I quite like the idea of her going back to Galileo or maybe a go with Frankel! A SELKIRK-SOVIET SONG mating would hopefully have produced something a bit useful too, Jezebel. |
