Hi, does anyone have any views on the upcoming sale?  Can anyone advise on the overall standard or whether you can get value for money at this particular sale?

I've picked out a few lightly raced / unraced horse's that look the part on pedigree but I suspect the consignors are getting rid of them for a reason...they think they're pretty average.  Why would they not run them once or twice to find out though?

Still might be one or two from the likes of Juddmonte/Darley that prove decent value.

When you get to the sale Oasisdreamer, you'll see why some of those big draft lots don't make the track! I've lost count of how many fat crooked and tiny Distant View fillies I've looked at from Juddmonte over the years.

I've only just started the catalogue, but because of the sheer variety of lots offered there will undoubtedly be some good future fodder that slips through. I am always cautious of the best lots though, as they invariably stand out a good deal more than they would in December and may well fetch too much because of that.

Pm - take your point about the best lots going for too much.  Tbh I'm no bloodstock expert but a few that took my eye were Serious Breach, Radiant Dream (we have the full brother Euston Square) and Crafty Roberto (ran promisingly in a couple of maidens recently).

Radiant Dream will be in the top 10 of the sale if she's nice.

One thing about your colts is that Juddmonte should be pretty honest with their opinions on their suitability for a new job.

Koo - out of interest would you buy anything that is unraced?  Personally I'd rather go for something that had some form in the book.

To be honest id buy anything if i felt the price was right.

Theres obviously a bigger risk so youd want it cheap or think it had a massive postential still and there was a solid reason for them selling.

Id concentrate on the ones that have races, but after that i'll double check the unraced ones arent from late maturing families who didnt progress till say 4 and someone else has just lost patience with it and need to make room for a new batch of 2yo's are will soon be there if not already.

But i would buy if i felt there was an angle in somewhere and the price obviously reflects the gamble your taking.
Obviously needs to pass the vets there at the sale and my trainer would have to be happy its sound or any problems arent much.

After the unraced ones i'll look at the breeding stock for which i need help off the kind people here as i'd love to buy say 2 nice mares to start breeding from.

Hi Koo,

Just had a look through your website and thumbs up for the layout etc.  You seem to have had a cracking 2010.
I must say Palomar is an old favorite of mine and looks like you guys have found the key to that one.  Best of Luck.
