They are just trying to scrape what they can from him, where they can. Disappointing at 3 presumably disappointing at Ashford, he will not be around long term I am quite sure. If you breed to race then that's up to you!

Thanks for the reply Potentialmillionaire,i do breed to race so commercial value isn't important to me.
Going over to Coolmore after the week-end so will have a look.

If you do breed to race then surely first season sires wouldnt be the most commercial thing to do as your paying a higher fee than you should because of the first season at stud and you wont be able to recuperate what you paid because you wont be selling if i where you i'd use a proven sire as you dont need to take the gamble of using a first season sire

Have a good look at as many as you can topfarrier. Mind you I struggle when I go there as there are too many horses for me to get a handle on - I'm a bit thick - so I have to file some under 'not liked', but then I get annoyed because I can't then remember them!

Please report in with any opinions on the new ones if you have chance.

I usually use Stallion's in stud's where i've worked but fancy a change with this mare and i've been offered a good deal so it might be worth taking a gamble.

I can see where your coming from RVW but the fact that he didn't make a 3 yr old doesn't worry me as he looks to me to have the makings of a decent 2yr old sire and he's out of a Sadlers Wells mare which is what i had in mind for this particular mare. But i may change my mind after i've seen him.
I'm also going to have a good look at Holy Roman Emperor for another mare i have.

topfarrier. I hope a 2yo isn't what you are aiming for here, as Sadlers 3x3 one of which is through In The Wings is not the right recipe!

I have a pet dislike of staying 2yo's that don't train on. The world is littered with Tenbys and High Estates and off hand I cannot think of any successful ones and I don't see Kingmambo being much help on the 2yo front either!

You will like Holy Roman he's a cracking quality horse - although a bit mini - but whilst not a right off you know the current thinking there.

I'm not after a 2yr old in particular although it is nice if they show something at 2! Like i said i'll go and have a look and see what i like.
I'll let you know how i get on.

Well done Top Farrier, that's a job well done. As the horses you mention aren't in the current phase of hot hot hot I imagine you got one hell of a deal there. That'll make it all the sweeter for you when they are red hot when you come to sell - but not as red hot as the horses I'm using you understand Laugh
