I have a mare who needs a bit of size and a bit of speed from a stallion. Does anyone have opinions on Pasternak, who is a stallion I'm looking at? He has very few runners at present, but did sire Little Josh and seems to do OK from a small representation.

Are you breeding for the flat or jumps?He does not strike me as a speed sire!

Sorry, should have made that clear. Speed in NH terms, I meant. I have a winning 3 mile hurdler who needs some toe put into the pedigree, I think. Mated her with Tobougg last time, and wondering who might suit when we mate her again this spring.

I guess you live in the UK?Perhaps cover her with a fast horse ie sprinter type and if you plan to race it yourself you can go for something like JOSR ALGARHOUD who gets good looking sorts that should do well jumping,he is cheap fee range.Or say Multiplex a well bred Danehill sire from a good class family using him is a gamble but I have him down as a future duel purpose sire who should do well under both codes,stands for again low money.
Breeding jumpers today I can see no harm in using sprinter stallions on jump mares,I know people who have had great success with this idea,give it some thought! |

I'm a big fan of Needle Gun who is standing for a paltry £400. He was a very tough sound horse on the track and seems to have passed this on to his offspring from what I can tell which is what you want in a jumper.
