I doubt if many regular readers will guess the leading UK sire in October by number of winners. It is Oratorio on 11 despite only having 16 other winners from Jan. to Sept!!!

Bit surprised with that, could you put up a list of darley and coolmore stallions for the year so far

Fascinating Sageform.

Too little too late though surely. A ton of mares and a very decent ammount of goodwill towards this stallion haven't stopped him joining the list of disappointing sires out of Vaguely Noble mares.

Exceed and Excel continues to do well and Sharpened Edge was his 9th win of October, 7 of which have been in the last 10 days. Any of his runners in sprint handicaps on easy ground need respect.

October saw a mix of softer turf and AW racing so a few sires got into the monthly list that rarely get a mention in my threads.

Monthly total followed by annual to date for UK wins.

Oratorio   11  27
Exceed and Excel  10 85
Barathea  9 38
Cape Cross 9 99
Dubawi    9 91
Avonbridge 8 39
Diktat  8 40
Dubai Destination  8 61
Invincible Spirit  8 81
Noverre  8 76
Pivotal  8 89

Other annual totals of top 10
Oasis Dream  98
Kyllachy  88
Medicean  82
Bahamian Bounty  73

Cape Cross may not quite match his huge 132 of last year but a sudden burst of 5 wins this week including Riggins dead heat moves him to 106 to Oasis Dream 100.

An update to follow after racing today completes the November programme, but the top 5 are still the same. At the end of the year I will provide a list of the top 100 sires with a comparison of best year, worst year and 2009 and 2010 wins. Also the month in which they typically get most winners if anyone is interested. Selkirk is an older sire who has had a revival this year. I know that this info including Ireland is freely available on the net but as regulars will know, I prefer to keep GB only.

To answer roy jones, there is plenty of data out there but some requires you to pay. Try the Racing Post Bloodstock pages.
