Fast Company retired to Rathasker

This colt looked very much like he was going to be a good sort then Godawful got hold of him,we've not seen him for years typical Godawful type everyone's forgotten him by the time he retires,will have to be cheap,reckon he will find it hard to be considered commercial,esp' in this climate.

Like Mr Burns I've been waiting for this horse to go to stud for years! A typical son of Danehill Dancer, who put in an RPR of 124 at two. I think he could be underestimated because he's been out of the limelight for so long, but he looks to have all the attributes to make up into a good commercial sire. I only hope he gets supported with the right mares, unlike so many potentially good sires.

“He’d gone to York for the Acomb Stakes on the back of an impressive maiden win at Salisbury and faced a field that included several previous winners. He looked to have a hell of a lot to do at halfway but picked up when asked and fairly slaughtered them, pulling clear to win on the bridle. It was so impressive I just had to check him out. Seeing him in the flesh at Newmarket confirmed that good impression; he’s a quality horse, with excellent conformation and a willing nature"

How much is Maurice going to stand him for do you know?

5K is what I heard and he'll trade at that price.

If that's what he is going to stand for then Maurice will need to trade,with the markets as they are with this colt who has not been seen out for years 5k is far too much to entice breeders in,reckon he will trade at 2k if he does want to cover more than just his own mares.Stallion managers have really got to get real with their pricing of stud fee's, Maurice is no exception.

A agree Prima. I think if he brought him in at the €4k mark, with the intention of trading at around €2.5k for a good mare, he might just give him a chance. First and foremost, you've got to get the foals on the ground!

Trend, Image, Fashion, Perception etc etc etc.

Terms we all use endlessly on here. I am sure that a stallions initial fee goes some way to forming opinion in all us onlookers/players.

How often do we hear that trainer/agent can't sell so and so to his client because of one  spurious reason or another. I think we have to accept that a real 'cheap' stallion may too suffer because of this sort of snobbery. Undoubtedly NOT all the time - we all know and admire the exceptions who don't get bogged down in that sort of stuff - but I can see why the stallion men think it a good idea to start off a little high.

Sure those of us in the know are then aware of just how low they'll drop from that start, but there are plenty of owners out there who never trouble themselves with that kind of information.
When presented with their yearling, a decent published fee probably makes them feel a little more comfortable with their indescribable folly!

Yeah he looks a good sort likely to get early sorts he does have the advantage of a great sire behind him but still think Maurice is asking too much at 5k,that said doubt many will be paying that price.
If you got a very nice colt out of a half decent mare with a sniff of black type then you might get away with it,looking at the 'photo he does look racy.

Yeah, he does look racy. Possibly a little light boned and not the most robust. I'm not quite sure of the injuries he sustained, but I wonder whether he didn't stand up to hard training particularly well. Altogether a nice sort though. I quite like him.

Prima, will you be using him if you can squeeze a few thousand off the price tag?

Don't worry too much about him being a touch light of bone,that is down to his sire Danehill Dancer,and no I have no plans to use him atm,I would indeed want to squeeze a few grand off his asking price if he were to interest me.If you choose to use him Gimcrack and you have a goodish mare start trading at 1.5k,that will steam Maurice's glasses upsending him into shock but you may get him for a smidge over 2k![;)]

You won't steam up Maurice's glasses as I've borrowed them to look at that tiny bloody picture!

He looks like quite a small horse which according to the blurb, he isn't. That's a good sign in my book. I like a big horse to look small and vice versa.

Horse got a dreadful ride in the Dewhurst...Durcan was flailing around in mid track..whilst the rest raced up the favoured stands side.
Nice horse,Meehan genuinely thought he was the real deal.And there are no flies on those Burns'...I bet you he turns out ok.He was awesome in the Acomb, and there were a few behind him that turned out well.
