Lots got posted on other topics bucko (Tatts pt1) etc.

Overall, okay for the stars, patchy for the workable and grim for anything else. Plenty of luck needed at all levels.

I haven't looked through all the results but from talking to others, it seems horses with decent ratings, irrespective of what they were, made good money. It seems that owners with £100k are more interested in buying something off the flat for immediate fun rather than buying a few store horses and trying to hit the jackpot in a few years time. Each to their own and I'm happy as these guys might stay away from the store sales and make some of the better sires more affordable. We bought an Oscar at the Derby sale, something we would not have been able to do previously so hopefully next year we can look at the very best NH stallions and be able to afford one.

Hi bucko, I was talking about the horses in training sale....obviously.

Yeah got our first member into the syndicate thanks to the ad in the Racing Post. Will keep that going for a while as 3 out of 4 winners kinda speaks for itself. Much tougher now to get syndicate members but we've filled one each year since 2005, bar 2006. People have limited resources and the demographic of members has changed from lads in their 20s/30s spending bonuses to people in their 40s-60s who might have the mortgage paid, have a few bob and see horses as being affordable again. In 2007, it cost nearly €4k to get involved, now we are able to buy the same horse for under €3k a share. I think people also like the transparency of it. All done at cost except for my defined management fee. And I also pay full whack for a share myself rather than try to get a sneaky share for nothing.

Seems to be working well for all concerned, involved in one myself, mainly work related, going very well at the moment,"good horse"(no 4) buiochas le dia, lots of work involved, bought a flat yearling at the Sept yearling sales, new ground for all concerned, all NH up to this, and now two in training, but at least we have the money to keep the two in training, would love to get involved with your syndicate if things ever went pear-shaped,I see H DeBromhead is putting together a similar syndicate via Face Book, again best of luck, and at least we are doing our bit for the racing industry,

Hope to see you in the winners enclosure [;)]

Thanks Bucko, you're more than welcome in the future. The deBromhead syndicate is reasonably priced if you like the horse they have. I'm not sure what they've bought. I like buying at the sales, just because it gives syndicate members piece of mind that it's some sort of market price as opposed to a field purchase which could be worth nothing in reality. I'll keep going anyway with the syndicates and hope to find a few more winners.
