Despite a few highlights results look brutal (mind you catalogue was brutal too).  Wondered if anyone noticed if lot 26 had 4 legs.  A Whipper out of (all but) full sister of Trade Fair made £5.5k.

Trade did seem to be rather patchy, but I did hear prior that it would be a quiet sale.

As for  Lot 26, Whipper is not a success and Trade Fair is colder than cold. Add on that Whipper gets them light and Trade Fair gets them big and plain then she could have been a 'beauty'! I didn't see her as I wasn't there but that result wouldn't be beyond the realms.

I can only image she was a poor specimen.  Unlike you to be quite so damning of a young stallion - I've sold two whippers and both were light but very nice potential 3yos.  All very well RP / DBS talking up a few big lots but I'd bet 50%+ of vendors lost money.  Fairly pointless sale imho

Yer ma. Pointless sale? I think at this level it's all about getting them moved on isn't it? Oh how we wish these sales were pointless and we didn't need to stage them!

Incidentally, at the 'Premier Sale' last month, I noted that the median was £20k. Now with it being a genuinely selected sale with quite high criteria these days, I suspect the median production cost for all yearlings was probably floating around that mark given the standard of stallion there these days.

I think this probably makes for a more depressing 50%+ doesn't it? Sad

Pointless may be the wrong word - it was meant to suggest I see it has little value in the sales schedule.  These would be as well tagged onto the 'premier' sale or left until the 'value'.   I entirely agree with your last point.
