Who allowed John McC to bet on himself to lose?

Don't see why. Its not like throwing any other sport - despite his efforts and everyone knowing of his intentions (including the bet) he still only just went first! Basically, he couldn't 'fix' it.

More to the point - means he told someone ahead of time he was going in... If that person had any sense, they'd have backed him here to go first on here - and got much better odds [than JMc claimed he got]!

if his stated intention is to be first out, he won fair

Ive very much doubt he made this bet. More likely to have said it to look smart
