Usually there are a few other nice hm's that I want to keep green, after all my pick could become injured etc. This year I'm laying my other greens, it just depends on whether I want them slightly red, red, or huge red.

Her two competitors JJJ have large negative polling. Large negative polling is worse than the apparent percentage because there will be a lot of people who, whilst they don't pick JJJ as their LEAST fav, still don't like them and won't vote for them. And the rest of the hm's have too far to go.

Am I deluding myself?

The odds on the front two are fair enough I think compared to each other

Everyone else is far too short, with the possible exception of Sam

I would have said yes Henry, but I appear to be swimming against the tide on this one, so probably best to ignore anything I say.

[;)]sams the man dynamics have changed massivly since his arrival still see some value in dave though
Report Henry VIII August 3, 2010 10:33 AM BST
I see the tide changing for JJJ, although much later than I thought it would. Their support is romantic women (bless them), and once the spell of the "romance" is broken it can't be remade.

JJJ supporters are bullied off the main forums (although their still large presence is seen in the positive polls on those sites) but have found haven on the Ch4 site. However, largely because of Sam merely articulating their own suspicions, more and more JJJ negativity is creeping even in there.

Earlier today on Ch4, the "Parted Lovers" item, out of 52 comments
22 against JJJ
12 pro JJJ
18 neutral or repeat posters.

OK very small sample, but just an indicator on the site with the most pro JJJ demographic.

I'm joking, I'm not tempted myself (although maybe because I am already ludicrously green on her).

Well done to you and everybody else who has her at the lovely prices Henry, there are a few here who will be sitting on very nice, all green books.

With the next nominations to be seen on h/l show, this will surely damage the jjj thing further, as will footage of Jo and Dave questioning the whole thing, if they make the cut

She's fake her diary room rants are very transparent doesn't stand a chance against Josie.
Report cjhornet August 3, 2010 11:26 AM BST
Her 2 big dangers are JJ1 and JJ2

She may get beat fair and square by JJ1.
JJ2 could ruin her chances if anything happens there. (I severely doubt it will admittedly) As there could be a backlash with a disgruntled girlfriend appearing in the press.
Report PAKEY August 3, 2010 11:28 AM BST
Which begs the question Ashley, why does Corin seem to have her own nightly diary room slot?
My wife gets bored now as every night I turn to her and say "Here's Corin's nightly centre stage spot".
I think the last one to receive this treatment so early on was John Pickles, but the nightly slot certainly seems to be showing a little bit of favouritism.
If this continued to the end, I wonder if the GBP would pick up on it and appreciate being "fed" their winner.
Report chepster August 3, 2010 11:29 AM BST
John James is a far more worthy winner imo.

Corins Diary room comments (e.g the number of fails allowed) seem far to contrived to me and I think the BB producers have this as ammo should they want to derail her chances. The big worry (as a Corin layer btw) is that she seems to be coming across well in every show at the moment.

With the risk of sounding like the founding member of John James Appreciation Society (JJAS) . .  I think this guy is one of the most genuine housemates BB has had since the first series. I know there are several on this forum that disagree so go easy on me.

A guy with his looks (bit gay that bit!!!) ordinarily would spend the summer in the BB house full of self promotion and working his way around the women in the house. When he first mentioned he was 'shy' around women, my first thought was 'bollox'. Now i genuinely believe this to be the case.

Obviously i dont believe this alone should win him the series but he comes across to me as someone most blokes would like to go for a pint with (ala James Nesbitt on Buzz****) :)

I can also see why Corin is favoured above him in the market. When he was collecting his suitcase the look he gave to the mirror and the long lingering shot of this, was intended to suggest he was either (a) looking at himself or (b) checking the cameras was watching as he hugged Josie.

Also on last nights HL they mentioned he had money which I am sure was meant to be a negative.

So its fair enough that Corin is favoured over him but as Josie and JJ are two and three in the betting, and the vote tranferance from these two is ultimatley massive . . . I think we are quite a while off Corin trading at big Odds on.
Report VardonVoo. August 3, 2010 11:33 AM BST
should they want to derail her chances

Did you like my "Corination Street-Car" nick-name for her, then?
Report letsalldance August 3, 2010 11:40 AM BST
Like as already been mentioned the vote preferance could be a massive thing in deciding the winner. Depends how much time they give for voting in between eviction's. If JJ1 or Josie go early on the final night or before than I expect th eone that's remaining to win. Hopefully it will be JJ1.
Report Helmuthian Folds August 3, 2010 11:52 AM BST
I agree Chepster that does sound a bit gay!

John James is just a bully IMHO, you have seen it less since he became JJJ but I have not forgotten his earlier tirades at people he knew couldnt fight back.

He hasn't even got the guts to stand up to Sam, if someone was talking like that to my girlfriend he would be told in no uncertain terms to STFU.  He utterly slated Rachael for talking about magazine deals and yet when someone accuses his girlfriend of doing exactly the same thing he sits there and grins nervously.  What a flaming hypocrite.

i think Corin is brill, and have done throughout. i wasn't paying much attention to the markets early on but noticed she was 12.5 and thought wow, that's value. by the time i got round to betting (deposit caps) she had come into 9.8 or so and made me a nice green.
My only regrets are since my deposit caps i have been sukin a little out of her on her way in so i could punt on other things. i have covered myself on dave who i think is great value, rachael another who i really like and can't believe the odds, the blonde one that walked at 120's and andrew and mario.

i think her late night dairy room plugs are because she is undoubtedly the most entertaining and since the show is here to entertain then why not show the funniest...

I think JoJa is a c*ck and a pest and certainly not someone who i would go for a beer with, i would tell him to STFU about something very early on IMO.

Too true HF.
His unwillingness to stand up for the 'woman he loves', when some toerag is shoving his crotch in her face and calling her miss piggy, has done him significant damage imo.

Report chepster August 3, 2010 12:36 PM BST
John was particularly harsh to Rach I agree HF. I think this is because of his lack of understanding of Mag deals on the back of Big Bruv. In fairness I think he was involved in an argument he knew nothing about because he wanted to argue with that particular housemate.

To call him a bully though isnt fair imo. I have seen no real sign of it since Rach left.

The way he dealt with Andrew liking Josie more than made up for that imo.

JJ is one of only a few in recent years who hasnt gone in BB to self promote. I think its refreshing [:D]

if you are thinking the same bit as me, then Mario said you could make 10-20k(not sure of the numbers exactly)for selling a story as a couple; JJ said " I didn't know that" he wasn't talking about magazine deals in  general but the amount you could get paid.

IIR he was "surprised" that people would want to read about him etc. Totally false. He was talking to somebody recently and said he'd never walk (can't remember if generally, or about something particular), JJ2 (I think) said "What about for Josie?" JJ1 "Er, oh yes of course for Josie". I also remember (much more clearly) Mario "Did you throw that task?" JJ1 after much prevaricating said "Er, yes". That was the most obvious lie I've ever seen from anybody. He has no backbone, he says what he thinks people will want to hear, and tries to come across as a moral crusader

Anyway he's got away with it so far, people think he's "real", and he could get away with it to the end.

Unless you think someone who models themselves on Beckham, changed their name to achilles, prior to going in the house gave interviews to the celeb mags where he said he wanted to be torso of the week and would pose in his pants for them, hopes the house is full of hot girls, isn't working but is waiting for his big break, etc, etc, is being realin the house.

He also knows more about BB than Belo, so the idea that he doesn't know the mags are interested in BB romances is just utter tosh.

JJ1 will be put out to dry soon enough, leaving Coirin a 1.33 shot which at that stage will be buying money.

Just need Josie out then I can relax, still remember my heart pumping ten a dozen when Twist and Pulse were the final 2 in BGT, even though I know Coirin will smash Josie heads up if it came to it, there's always that 10 second pause before being announced where the heart races like a trooper with one monster green and one monster red.
