13 years mate, why do think i spend every waking moment glued to this chair Sad
mind you its lasted so long coz we have spent a lot of time apart, which is good for any relationship...apart from the last 4 months where ive been sat here 24/7 but she works so not seen her during the day...starting to get really bored mind you, gonna hit the road very soon.

my advice to anyone in there early 20's is go and enjoy yourself for at least 10 years and dont even think about settling down until you hit your mid 30's.
then get yourself a nice bird while you still look pretty good and before your beer gut consumes you [;)]

im usually on the road 5 days out of the week so the 2 days im at home i appreciate and can cope with the shouting coz i know i'll be gone again the next day.
but 4 months is starting to take its toll, the road beckons

I've had similar situations but a lot of places have wifi now, libraries are best and free, but there are also places to go in the evening with internet.

Army

Why don't you plug headphones into the PC and
play music.

My parents are still together after 50 years, mostly cos my mum stands at her end of a narrow kitchen with the radio on, which forms a kind of
sound wall against my dad's continuous drivel.
He's happy too cos he likes talking, so long as
there is someone capable of hearing (even if they
don't respond).

In my parents' day the expectation of marriage
was to find a way to tolerate someone for life
rather than seek happiness. I've no idea why
people get married these days. No-one I know that
took the vows ten years ago are still together today (let alone until death them do part), yet
a fair few non-married friends are still with
their partners of 10 years plus - mind you those couples don't have kids.

then there's the times there just chatting away and i snap and have a pop at them coz ive just done a two'er on the footy Laugh naughty army, not there fault...but i let it build up over the week, then just flip.
hardly suprising though coz at times its like world war 3 going on all around me and im just sat there quietly trying to read something and let them get on with it. i should say something at the time but i just let it build up until the line has been crossed, then lookout Laugh

In my parents' day the expectation of marriage
was to find a way to tolerate someone for life
rather than seek happiness.

Traditionally marriage formed the formal structure to procreate, ie the legal status and protection of children, and thus continue the tribe or race. Although it was to ultimately ensure happiness for all it was not directly concerned with the immediate happiness of the participants, it was assumed that they were happy together anyway as they had chosen each other or had been chosen by those who loved them.
