Report armagnac July 25, 2010 2:41 PM BST
13 years mate, why do think i spend every waking moment glued to this chair Sad
mind you its lasted so long coz we have spent a lot of time apart, which is good for any relationship...apart from the last 4 months where ive been sat here 24/7 but she works so not seen her during the day...starting to get really bored mind you, gonna hit the road very soon.

put it this way mate, if i did ever spilt up with her...i would 110% stay single, never again... i dread to think how much she's had off me in that time...at one point i had to chuck out every catalogue and argos book i could find.
Report armagnac July 25, 2010 2:55 PM BST
my advice to anyone in there early 20's is go and enjoy yourself for at least 10 years and dont even think about settling down until you hit your mid 30's.
then get yourself a nice bird while you still look pretty good and before your beer gut consumes you [;)]

Army

Why don't you plug headphones into the PC and
play music.

My parents are still together after 50 years, mostly cos my mum stands at her end of a narrow kitchen with the radio on, which forms a kind of
sound wall against my dad's continuous drivel.
He's happy too cos he likes talking, so long as
there is someone capable of hearing (even if they
don't respond).

In my parents' day the expectation of marriage
was to find a way to tolerate someone for life
rather than seek happiness. I've no idea why
people get married these days. No-one I know that
took the vows ten years ago are still together today (let alone until death them do part), yet
a fair few non-married friends are still with
their partners of 10 years plus - mind you those couples don't have kids.
Report armagnac July 25, 2010 3:39 PM BST
then there's the times there just chatting away and i snap and have a pop at them coz ive just done a two'er on the footy Laugh naughty army, not there fault...but i let it build up over the week, then just flip.
hardly suprising though coz at times its like world war 3 going on all around me and im just sat there quietly trying to read something and let them get on with it. i should say something at the time but i just let it build up until the line has been crossed, then lookout Laugh

In my parents' day the expectation of marriage
was to find a way to tolerate someone for life
rather than seek happiness.

Traditionally marriage formed the formal structure to procreate, ie the legal status and protection of children, and thus continue the tribe or race. Although it was to ultimately ensure happiness for all it was not directly concerned with the immediate happiness of the participants, it was assumed that they were happy together anyway as they had chosen each other or had been chosen by those who loved them.

Have you tried poker army?

It's a game that suits a cold, systematical approach.
Report armagnac July 25, 2010 4:04 PM BST
fll

love the game bigtime mate, but sick of internet poker...waste of time, you have to see someones face to get the full value of playing.
i only have 1 dream at this point in my life and thats to travel and play live poker all over the place.
ive read a lot books, brunson, helmuth but the best book by a distance is dan harrington's.
maybe coz i play very simular, but improved my game 75% the minute i read it
Report five leaves left July 25, 2010 4:17 PM BST
oh right, I've not played live for years and because of my habit of smiling when I have a good hand, I didn't have much success.

Online it's fairly easy, especially on here, to grind out a profit, if you have a patient, disciplined and systematical approach.

I have a number of books, but have only skimmed them and not really learnt anything from them.

Better to just play and learn from your mistakes imo.

For a start , don't start by playing $5/10 NL as I did ;)

ive played on here for years, tourney's, stt's, cash tables, 8 tables at a time at one point.
but im totally fed up of online now..ive burnt myself out.
live is brill, could never get bored of it, great buzz.

I'm rubbish at stt's. Getting better at mtt's but cash is what I play to make money.
I don't play as much as I used because as you say, it can get very boring, but there are worse ways of making money.
Report armagnac July 25, 2010 4:46 PM BST
oh without doubt, its a really good way of passing a few hours and having the chance of making a few bob.
Report paddletoe July 25, 2010 4:47 PM BST
Armagnac have you ever considered charging subscribers to have a live feed into your gambling world and life. I would pay if just to see you do a monkey on the football and mope around the house, hopefully not kicking any kids or animals.
Report SelkirkAgain July 25, 2010 4:49 PM BST
I lack patience in cash which is my one big downfall. Mtt's, I'm quite happy to sit there for 5 hours solid as a rock and make Harrington look uber LAG, but cash I try to force it too much. Expensive lessons learned [smiley:crazy]

i recommend them to every poker fan, amazing insight
Report SelkirkAgain July 25, 2010 4:57 PM BST
I've got Vol 1 of Harrington on Hold 'em but not the second one. Some very good points which I've used over the years but not sure how much it holds up to todays online play.

His cash games books are supposed to be good but these days I'm a recreational mtt player online. Would play more live if I had the time but totally different beast to online.

fu ckers would never make thm calls live, coz they would'nt want to look total d!cks...thats the trouble online, people call coz they can hide
Report paddletoe July 25, 2010 5:02 PM BST
Actually, we have something in common Armagnac, i have played online poker for the past 5 years. I often play 12 hours straight multi tabling up to 14 tables and after a while it can be very draining. You need to take breaks and reward yourself and your loved ones with nice things every so often to make it a worthwhile way of life.

Presently, taking a few months off nearly all gambling due to needing a complete break and also getting married.

paddletoe

congrats mate, goodluck. another good man bites the dust Cry

online poker and playing 8 tables at once totally destroyed me that much i very very rarely summon the effort to play online now.
i loved it at the start, coz i like numbers and was good at maths so i could make the calls as fast as the tables appeared. its the only way you can play online, as long as your getting value for calling and good odds for hitting your outs. its an instant call.
waste fo time trying to work out if one is a fish or another is acalling stations when playing loads of tables you have to play the cards and percentages.
