And me.
I phoned them the other day. Apparently it's a common problem, they know about it, they are working on a fix and they have no idea how long that will take. I'd be grateful if anyone does post any updates/solutions here. |

betfair lite works on this, although it didn't the other day when i tried.

Any news/update on this?

Hi guys,
Sorry about the lack of reply - this thread must have crept under my radar. Have you tried deleting the app, reconfiguring your APN settings, then re-installing the app? Your APN settings need to be up to date on the BlackBerry for this to work. http://betfair-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8784 Let me know if this works, BF Mobile |

Everything worked fine until you did the latest Betfair Mobile "upgrade". Then I was prompted to download the new version, which I can't because of the issue described above. The settings on my phone are fine.

Another option might be if I can force my Blackberry to use the main Betfair site through the browser. At the moment I get redirected to Betfair Mobile (which i can't download). So is there a way to enable/force the browser to use normal Betfair?
|
|
By:
Well... you can use Betfair Lite at lite.betfair.com - this is a built-for-mobile lightweight browser experience.
Still obviously keen to fix the issues you are experiencing with the Java application though. Which network are you with? Thanks. |
|
By:
I am having to use Betfair Lite but it's a poor substitute because of the lack of account facilities (statments, settled bets etc). I'm on O2.
I phoned Customer Service about this 2-3 weeks ago and they knew then about the problem, and that it is a widespread problem, so this isn't new. |

I have the same issue.I rang the help desk and was told to ensure I had the latest APN settings and then tried to reinstall bf mobile.Still kept getting the same error message.
At work we have an IT and Blackberry expert who was one of the original developers of the Blackberry. He tried various things for me and could set up BF mobile on any of the older Blackberry operating systems but he could not set it up on the latest Blackberry operating system and he claimed that BF Mobile was currently not compatible with the latest Blackberry operating system which is on the the new phones or on phones with the updated operating system. |

Stephen is correct. blackberry OS version 6 which is on the torch is not compatable with betfair mobile. You must, currently , have a OS below 6 (5). This bug fix will be addressed by betfair but who knows when.
|
|
By:
Stephen and Hegel - Thanks very much for posting that very helpful info.
My problem also more or less fits with upgrading the software on my Blackberry (which I wish i hadn't done because I find the new OS worse than the old one in a number of ways). Is it possible to reinstall an older OS on the Blackberry? |
|
By:
I honestly don't know. I would assume that with the new blackberrys such as torch the OS 6 is the bench mark OS. If you have an older blackberry... I have a bold 9000 you can only get up to OS 5... I somehow don't see that you will be able to downgrade from 6 to 5 but the blackberry UK site might tell you.
I have also heard that a recent betfair upgrade has made problems worse for the blackberry. Betfair are aware of this but as yet have no solution. |

Hi Guys,
The Betfair Java App should work with BB6 OS devices. After your feedback, we implemented a fix that should be picking up your devices now and allow them to download the app. Stephen and Strontium - Can you have another go at downloading and let me know how it goes please? Please do also make sure your APN settings are correct - just so we're ticking every box :). Cheers, BF Mobile |

No change for me I'm afraid (tried at about 09.30).

Did this work for anybody?
|

I can now download the app but when I go to open it I get the error message: Network Failure. Please Try Again (27)

That's the incorrect APN settings error isn't it?
|
|
By:
Hi Lew,
Strontium is right - that's the message you receive when the APN settings are incorrect on your device. Check here for more on this: http://betfair-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8784 Thanks, BF Mobile |
|
By:
I tried again in the light of Lew's experience, but I'm still getting the original error.
|
|
By:
Mine worked after changing the APN settings. Thanks for your help on the matter. Hope you get it working Strontium!
|
|
By:
Tried changing the APN settings. Tried 3G off and just WIFI and still can't download.
Betfair - Why can't you add the file to BlackBerry App World? What is so difficult? |
|
By:
I changed my APN settings for username and password, did a battery pull, downloaded the app and tried to use it - didn't work.
Still getting the same error 27 message. Using a Bold 9780 on O2 contract. |

Hi guys,
We implemented a fix for BlackBerry Bold devices operating OS6 last week. Can you guys give it another go and let me know how you get on please? cheers, BF Mobile |
|
By:
I still have the problem.
|
|
By:
ok... it may then be the case that you have duplicated download requests on your handsets. You'll have to ring our customer services team on 0844 871 0000 (outside UK: +44 203 059 8888). They should be able to delete your redundant requests and get you set up, finally, with the right version.
Sorry about all this... and fingers crossed. BF Mobile |

By:
No good.
|
|
By:
Yep - still nothing after speaking to your call centre who didnt know anything about the problem.....very tiresome
|
|

I can download it, but get the network error and it wont open. Mines a brand new 9780 Bold , works with 0S6 and im getting the same error messages with my banks app (Lloyds) and 2 other bookies that I tried to download (Power and another I cant recall!)
Doing my head in, like seriously !! |
