Betfair is pleased to announce our first Android app is now live on the Google Marketplace. This application offers exchange betting and is based on a mobile product that our iPhone users have enjoyed for some time.

To download the app simply go to the Marketplace on your Android phone and search for Betfair.

I've just installed the new Android app on my Samsung Galaxy-S and it works, but nowhere near as good as the standard Betfair Mobile, although this is only officially version 0.5 so there hopefully are many more features to come. Confused

When I view a greyhound race, I only see the top 5 runners and when I scroll down, I lose the refresh button based at the top of the screen which is stupid and there is no way to reduce the font size!! [>o]

Has it been taken down? It's not coming up in the marketplace on a 'betfair' search.

Found it immediately in Android market (T-Mobile, HTC Desire).

Looks just like the iphone website; but hopefully some enhancements follow / and that it won't log me out as often as the website does. Be nice to know what it does the website doesn't or what it does better (data caching?).

Anyway, good job for making it ;)

DK

I have just looked.  T-Mobile, SonyEricsson Xperia.  No trace of the android app.  What exactly did you search on to find in Market?  Is it really dependent on having right phone?

So it can STILL be found if you a have a HTC Desire, but not with most other Android phones?

Dodgy Knees, is it any good? How is it compared to BF Mobile? (I've never seen the I-phone app so I cant compare it to that)

The only difference between it and the iPhone.betfair.com website, as far as I can tell, is that it brings up a calculator style keyboard for input when backing and laying.

Also the phone runs hotter! So I guess it must be doing something...

Not tried the iPhone app either... but the iPhone site works on any phone, I think.

BTW - I just used betfair as search term in market.

We've just release the Official Betfair app for Android.  Have a look and let me know what you think.  Here's a QR code: http://tinyurl.com/betfairandroid or visit http://market.android.com/search?q=pname:com.betfair.nativeapp on your Android phone.

Downloaded new app today - first impressions much better than touch.  Couple of things that would improve further - my markets/bookmark option and ability to set 'normal' stake as per original java mobile.

Definitely big step in right direction though.

i have a galaxy s, i have had the same problem with the new app as i had with the old one, namely, it doubles most bets I make in-running???  In other words, say i have backed over 2.5 goals in a market prior to the off, 2 goals go in and i try to trade out, it usually doubles the stake i intend to put on - it's weird and the worst thing is, every fecking time it has done this, it costs me money.  I thought the new app wasn't having the same problem, but over the last few days this has happened 3 or 4 times.  I have to halve my intended stake in case it doubles my stake.  I don't know the reason, is it a phone issue, a network issue (can't be as i have experienced the same problem on my wifi at home) or is it a problem with the app?

@Tom2007 - thank you.  There was a very small team working on this and a lot of hard work has gone in to get something good out.  We're aware this hasn't got all the features in yet, but we're working on it!  Your 'normal' stake and bookmark suggestions have been noted.  Thank you

@crespogol - have you tried contacting our customer service team?  We've not seen anything like this happening whilst we have been developing and testing the application, and that it's happening across applications may suggest it's something a little more in depth.  I hope we can fix it for you.

Downloaded it yesterday and used a little. Would like especially to see a 'my markets' function. However definitely a big step in the right direction as Tom said. Early days but seems stable (which I'm sure was a priority) and reasonably slick.

@crespagol.  Noticed your problem with regards to duplicate bets with interest.  Had the same problem but it has cost me money and Betfair do not want to know.  I am livid but rest assured I am already in the process of taking this matter further.

Finally mastered the qr code, but the betfair app is not in the andriod market.
I read that google has banned all gambling apps, is this the reason you cant downlaod the betfair app.
If so why didnt betfair let their customers know this? Would have saved hours of wasted time.
