Hi,

The APN settings for Vodafone are:

Go to Options/Advanced Options/TCP

APN: Internet
Username for APN: web
Password for APN: web

The above settings work on my Blackberry Bold which I use on a Vodafone contract.

anyone know the settings for orange
By:

When: 24 Nov 09 18:54
Hi Ernesto,

Go to:

options.... adv options...... select TCP
APN must be.... orangeinternet
username must be user
password must be pass

By using this APN you might be charged per mb as your contract data allowance is through the Blackberry APN. Try the above settings to see if they work. You can always return them blank when you have finished using Betfair Mobile. Check later with Orange exactly what their charges are for using an APN other than the default Blackberry one.

First off - thanks a lot for the info. I am on O2 Ireland. I have tried substituting ie for .co.uk but not having any joy.

Does anyone know a**for an O2 Ireland customer. Many thanks.

Hi Sligo,

The settings for O2 Ireland are:

APN: open.internet
Username: gprs
Password: gprs

You will be charged for every mb of data you use with the above settings.

You could try using the "wap" APN of wap.dol.ie. That should be free, but I am not sure whether it would work with Betfair Mobile.

Good Luck !

Hola Cuban!

Your data allowance with O2 is through the Blackberry APN. When you use an O2 APN you will have to pay for any data use. However, you can purchase a monthly "bolt on" for using the O2 APN. Your best bet is to ring O2 customer services and explain the problem with the APNs and try to negociate a data deal with them. I use a Blackberry Bold with Vodafone and there is no extra charge for using their APN with Betfair Mobile. Additionaly, their data allowance is 500 mb a month.

Hi Cogito,

Which O2 APN are you using? The APN for the UK is:

APN: mobile.O2.co.uk
Username:mobileweb
Password:faster

The O2 details in my earlier post were for Ireland only.

Which server are you using your blackberry through - BES or BIS?

Would not advise anyone on orange with a Blackberry to use anything other than the Blackberry apn. It would be very costly indeed.

If you post your network operator name here I'm sure someone will be able to suggest an alternative APN for you.

The other issue could be that you haven't removed the adult block on your account, try calling your network operator to see if this is still on and if you do this ask them about alternative APNs.
Post back if you this works - I'm sure a lot of people would be really grateful.

When: 15 Mar 10 21:40
Hi Nomadic,

The problem is likely to caused by one or both of the following settings:

1. Have you removed the "Adult Block" by contacting Vodafone? It is set by default on a new contract unless you ask them to remove it.

2. Are your Mobile Internet settings correct? An easy way of updating the settings on the SE C905 is to go to the following web page:

http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/phones/detailed/phonesetupwap/c905?cc=gb&lc=en

Fill in your details on the web page and the correct settings will be sent to your mobile phone.

Good Luck!

I'm getting the same error message on my blackberry with orange. The purple place's application works a treat so it appears to be betfair's problem and not the manufacturer or the network. Surprised? Of ****ing course not

Followed the instructions for 02 contract at the bottom here - no joy.

Prior to this had called Betfair yesterday advised that needed to call 02, did just that they were baffled as I could access all other sites. They sent me the latest service book, however as everything else was working there was nothing else they could do - so they suggested calling Betfair again.

Do Betfair think we are all mobile/programming experts?

I think I am going to see if I can use another bookmakers service instead, one that works.

Read this thread from top to bottom, have tried all suggestions and i'm still getting the network error 27 message. I'm on 02 PAYG, have removed the adult bar, tried umpteen GRPS settings, reinstalled it several times and it's driving me absolutely nuts. Have emailed betfair and they can only suggest using betfair lite, which quite frankly isn't any good.

Anyone who can help me get bf mobile working, i'd me most grateful !

If you have a network problem regarding error 27 on the Blackberry (sometimes error 02) this is a general network access settings issue which can occur on any mobile which is trying to access the web via an application. This can be resolved by conducting the following:

Go to 'options', and then 'advanced options' then click on 'TCP/IP' and amend the settings, bearing in mind who your provider as they need to confirm the username and password required:

APN:      (see http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html for APN/gprs settings)

Username:  (see relevant provider GPRS Settings)

Password:  (see relevant provider GPRS Settings)

Save and Exit

Then go to 'options' and then 'security options' then “advanced security”, then click 'TLS'

Set the 'TLS default' to 'handheld' (this may be set to proxy)

Save and Exit

Restart your blackberry device (remove the battery). Then try and log in to Betfair Mobile.

If the problem remains you can try accessing Betfair via http://lite.betfair.com

TRIED ALL THIS STILL NOT WORKING!!!
