Im told by a friend who works for HTC the following.
Android to overtake iphone with new releases expected late 2010. Also has said that the the Blackberry will be obsolete within 2 years. Windows 7 mobile will be released at the back of 2010. HTC have taken the basic and not new windows 6.5,and jazzed its interface up. Windows mobile 7 will have to be a massive improvement,or will spell the end for windows mobile.
He thinks technology wise,the android will just leave the iphone behind within the next 2 years.
So i firstly would think about buying a blackberry later in 2010. And most likely an iphone by early 2011.
Worth thinking about later in the year if upgrading.

Iphone 4.0 maybe annouced on Wenesday so I wouldn't be to confident.

I own an iPhone,and a touch. What gets me is the delay in what people want.
Multi tasking should have been incorparated in the last release. Problem i see is Apples slow responce to what people want,and what others are already offering.

I've have a Nexus, iPhone and a BlackBerry, for various reasons I have a lot of handsets to play with.
Overall I'd say:
The Nexus wins as a phone and general flexibility. I just like the fact that it's open-source and don't have to go through an App store or hack my phone to have what I want on there. This could be the "Buzz Lightyear" effect of it being a new toy but after two weeks of playing it's still my main handset. 5 MP camera with a flash and a 1GHz processor are very welcome! Expandable memory, removable battery (for which I'll be getting a spare for those long trips) and being SIM free all make it feel more like "my" phone than the iPhone, which still feels like some of it belongs to Mr Jobs.
The iPhone wins for all the cool apps you can get on it. I love this handset but I just wish that I could do more with it that I choose to. The upside on this though is that you get the assurance that whatever you have on there has gone through the rigorous testing at Apple, so a "safe bet" for people not wanting to do anything too geeky.
The BlackBerry wins as a business tool. I want a handset for work that doesn't need charging every few hours if I'm sending a lot of emails and neither of the other two have really got anywhere close to RIMs typing interface and enterprise server security.
The announcement from Apple tomorrow could bring yet another step up in the handset game so I may just have to break out the plastic and get yet another toy!

Android will be the standard operating mobile system soon.
