Liquidity Lowest Ever

sportsbook is useless on baskets,tried to place a bet 4 times and every time the odds sunk lower,all this in the space of 30 seconds,unreal!!!!!! never again

And on the European markets just bots bots and even more bots.

The long time customers are expected to turn a profit on THESE markets, and if they do are required to turn 40% of their winnings back to the host. Amazing really anyone is left.

That being said, the in-play on p!nnacle is a joke. Line has changed everytime you attempt. Figures as your taking money directly out of their pocket.

Due to pc and the need for sleep I have hardly done any basketball this season.
I tried tonight seeing as it's MLK day and the games are staggered throughout the evening.
What a joke.
Absolutely zero liquidity on the points and caps, just a bookend bot with awful prices.
Total waste of time.

however margins and the percentage of matched bets that dont involve bots are probably at a low

one thing that hasn't changed: 3,4,5 years ago people complained about lack of liquidity

Are we talking low liquidity in play or pre off too? Not been in the hoops markets for a while, but there is a 20k lay for Phoenix right now. Not too shabby surely.

Some markets didnt exist back then, but nba games used to have at least 100k matched match odds- pre play! And it was more than 5y ago. No there are some games pre play under 10k. Liquidity is ~80% lower than 5 years ago!

Back in the day I could get 5-10K USD matched pre-off on any total at market prices. Now if I leave my bet up all day (first in line)I get a few hundred matched. Quite sad to see whats happened to my all time favourite internet gambling place.

I'm pointing on match odds market only(total ponts). If you interest is on 1st quarter point then yes. There is an increase, because 1st quarter market didn't exist then!.
Do you see an increase on match odds market? where? 8k matched pre play? La games(clippers), Miami 50k matched pre play? Is this an increase?

I used to trade on a basket because that's one of my favorite sports. I guess you must be either a fastest man on a market or just person who sells chewing gums on a sunday market. Im closer to believe in second option. How can it grows up when we have no bets there? there is absolutely no point to stay during a night and wait for a good price. No bets no fun! Easy for me.

You dont need to dig ot at data.betfair.com (Ive tried but its not clear-its not like you going there and see how many bets were placed. You have to add those figures- too much effort) I feel as a trader that basket has dried up.

Because I've joined forum in feb 2012 it doesnt mean that I dont know what used to happen here before, son. I used to do basketball and I was making lots of easy money here. Im not able to do it anymore- because it has completely dried up. Go and sell your sweets betfair is too complicated for you son.

This is purely a qualitative analysis, but it seems that liquidity has been a little better in-play since the New Year, though it is up and down on certain days and if there's something else on, like tennis particularly. But there is practically zero matched pre-match. I've given up trying on basketball before the off, and often even until the second half.

Does data count when the best you've provided is three years out of date and is therefore totally irrelevant to whether liquidity is higher or lower this year?

The feed that the bots are using are way ahead of streams and even 365s graphics. You have to remove your orders every time the ball passes mid court. The bots totally killed all points markets and makes it visually very hard to trade anything because you have to sort out the bots orders with your eyes all the time.

They use the source like streamservices use, but they are faster as raw material. Thats it! And no bots there. Basketball is not tennis. Ok, in playoffs there is noticable advantage, so possibly there are some courtsiders.

Totals matched have been down for a fortnight at least with a slow downwards trickle having started mid-Feb. Nothing to do with Cheltenham + I don't think the tennis is having that much impact.

Bear in mind that we are in NBA silly season results-wise as we approach the playoffs. Lots of dead rubbers with teams not necessarily putting in 100% - this may be affecting turnover. Also, I do think a chunk of money has been diverted to the sportsbook as they have stepped up their in-play offering, probably grabbing a fair few casuals.

College basketball, which used to have very modest but consistent enough turnover, has become a ghost town recently - it's nigh on impossible to get a bet matched both pre-off and in-play.

March Madness for College and the NBA playoffs will show the true state of affairs re the exchange. I'd be pretty confident that the playoffs will see a big rebound to typical levels in exchange action - we shall see.

liquidity is a joke this days, you can't simply make some bets in play, you always see the bot that puts 1500€ on back and lay separated by huge distances, like 30 ticks and thats the only money available.

Day by day constant markets with 1500€ available to bet at 1.5 and the next price is at 1.2, lay 1500€ at 1.7 and the next at 2.1

Basketball is an amazing sport to watch to bet and to trade.Usually the most good team wins but also underdogs when they play really good can win easy and all these without big damages for the bettors cause when happen this  u can smell it in the atmosphere.So basketball sure will not die in the betting industry.The problem about betfair is that many southern European countries that really love basketball are out of the exchange due to the gambling laws of these countries(Italia,España,Greece).The only strange is that all these laws have regulated 2 years before but only now seems the problem of liquidity to be more intensive.Any opinions why happen this only now,will be very welcome.

P.s. To be fair with the 'north' people i have to say that exists one country in the north that not only like or love basketball,but there is simply.. more than Religion....and this country is Lietuva(Lithuania).

Well, starting tomorrow we'll have even less liquidity since existing italians account will be terminated - bf stopped allowing registrations from there but they let previous customer to operate. No more, today is the last day.

Well, spanish and italian markets will return. In spain they approved finally the betting exchange and they think they will be operating again before september. Italy and more countries will follow so a little money will return.

Yep, they are launching an italians only BF platform but with separate liquidity, no sharing of the money with other countries and no betting allowed overnight (!). Don't know about Spain but probably they'll adopt a similar solution. So the river is spreading in different streams, bad for general liquidity. So they aren't returning at all, alas.

The launching of this new platform for italy is exactly the reason italians will disappear here tomorrow. .com account holders will have their account terminated to force them to join the .it.

Yes man, i'm sure. Unluckily that's the truth. The italian market is heavily regulated, the government wants his share of the money and that requires "national liquidity" with iron control on the country players and their money. BF had to buy a license to operate in Italy, it isn't cheap and current regulations don't admit sharing of the money.

There are talks going on about a united market with Spain and France in future. But eventually it will regards poker rooms first(they are in deep crisis because of their "closed gates" policy, not enough players to sustain xx poker rooms in each country). Then - and i'm making a big leap of faith - it may involves bookmakers also in far future. It is years from happening if ever
