I keep thinking about laying a shortie on the football in a 1-0 or drawn match. For a one-off max lay, 1.0x is too short for one kick of a ball.
Darlo, you're right. It's very possible to find these sort of lays in football betting too
the way i figure is if i'm willing to risk any money on something, then it must be quite likely to happen.
I had a two or three week spell where I thought "this would be the one". I did it five or six times, and each time, they lost. As a multiple (impossible I know) it would have been better odds than winning the lottery.
i'm pretty angry with myself that i didn't manipulate my book in the 3rd there, when i could see exactly what would happen.
i could see that the knicks would close the score up, but eventually lose. they'd blown their time outs, they were conceding too many 3's.

was this with a multiple every time? or single bets?
I mean had I used the profit each time I'd be looking at massive odds.
There was a horse in-running at 1.01 (mind I would have laid at odds-on because of the commentator and it lost for entirely different reasons anyway)

But how on earth would I think "let's lay this 1.01 volleyball"? I didn't know the teams, didn't know the scoring, etc, etc. It was nothing more than a hunch. A very good as it transpired.
It happens all the time. People have no patience. They just want to back o2.5 in the Man Utd match at 1.78 and become rich.

I have similar 'stupid' inclinations. But notice that you also may have them for things that don't occour, but you forget about those
My own strategy is all about patience. Lots of it. Once in a while, I just want to rip it all up and lay a short price for a lot and become rich!!
Darlo, patience is the biggest factor to successful betting. And also NO BET.
I used to look for a bet when there was nothing there when I was a noob.
This afternoon, on the 3pm KO's, I sat there and in the end I made 2 bets in the whole time. There was about 100 games going on
considered countless others that won, and also a couple that lost too. important thing was that i took only ones that won.
I try and make as many bets as I can. I don't mind if they only make 1p sometimes. But that's why I need patience, because sometimes I need lots of small wins to add up. But I totally appreciate what you mean about not forcing a bet where one doesn't exist.
That comes from desperation to win more green. The green will arrive in mysterious ways.

There was a match a few weeks ago where both teams traded 1.01 right on the buzzer. That's the time to lay a short price!!
also in soccer, in a goalfest game, it can be 0-0 ht, and the price for under 3.5 and under 4.5 can be very short
example from today: swindon v portsmouth. 0-0 ht, 0-0 until about 60 mins, 5-0 ft.
There must be some modelling which makes goal markets trade at the correct prices, but I do look at them and think the price drop is too linear.
as in, once the first goal goes in against them, certain teams will collapse
whereas other teams will harden in their resolve. it's about knowing the teams makeup / confidence / ability etc
I don't think it factors in the fact a goal is more important late on. If you're 1-0 down after 19 minutes you have 71 to score. 1-0 down after 89 minutes and you need to score. Which also leaves gaps at the other end.
that collapse effect is huge though. a team low on confidence in a relegation dogfight will start to fall to pieces when they concede against a strong in form team late on
i got that feeling, but their shooting from far out has been pretty bad
if they did recover, the NBA would be going on about it for ages
spread for them with books is -4.5 so they're -8.5 for 2nd half
