The Newcastle /ˈnjuːˌkɑːsəl/ metropolitan area is the second most populated area in the Australian state of New South Wales and includes most of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie local government areas.[2] It is the hub of the Greater Newcastle area which includes most parts of the local government areas of City of Newcastle, City of Lake Macquarie, City of Cessnock, City of Maitland and Port Stephens Council.[3][4]

HORSHAM trainer Paul Preusker was yesterday suspended by the RAD Board for three months after Lots Of Dollars was found to have an elevated bicarbonate reading at Seymour on July 23. Preusker was suspended for six months but three months was suspended provided he doesn't commit a similar offence in the next year. His three-month suspension commences at midnight on Tuesday, 4 February 2014. |

Racing Victoria stewards laid a total of 10 charges against Boyd, McKechnie and Preusker on December 8. The cattle prod, a hand-held battery-powered device about 15 centimetres long with two prongs at one end, is designed to be used in the herding of cattle. Chief steward Des Gleeson said yesterday this was the first time he had heard of its use on a racehorse. The three charges against Boyd involved the possession of an electrical apparatus, for which she was disqualified for 18 months, using an electrical apparatus (three years) and being party to a breach of the rules (three years). The terms are to be served concurrently. The board heard that Boyd was in possession of the cattle prodder and had used it while riding Kingston Shine in trackwork and had been party to McKechnie using it when riding Kingston Shine trackwork. The charges against McKechnie, 23, also involve the use of another electrical apparatus on the Preusker-trained Drink Up Mason in trackwork at Horsham. |

Clear modus operanti here: Trainer Symon Wilde has been fined $15,000 over a positive swab returned by a horse in his care which won at Warrnambool in December. Dexamethasone, a short-acting corticosteroid, was detected in a post-race urine sample taken from Florida Pearl after she won a benchmark-64 race on December 27. Wilde pleaded guilty to bringing a horse to race when a prohibited substance was detected in its system, and the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board issued the fine on Thursday. |
