How many races can Purdon Team win?
Will the Security affect some of the horses?

R1 14 Lochinver Had a Good Bet at $34 and $8 place. Dropping a mile in class and Perfect driver for the type of horse it is.

R3 7 Rocknroll Magic, G1 Gav to produce drive of the day. Purdons laying the place
R4 Backing 7 Berasari and 8 Nike Franco
R5 Laying Smolda the Win and Place. Could be a Huge Blowout
R6 Laying Purdon again Win and Place Our Wakiki Beach. Be cheering my mate horse home Zee Dana
R7 6 Lenny the Shark, how can i not. Beautide will be hard to beat and is Pudons a Freak. Im tipping Panella on the 1 will run last
R8 Looks a Good thing G1 Gav again 13 Claudys Princess

Not sure, there's a few local shops in Boort worth visiting, including the Boort Emporium.

1.10 Shots in Big races and destroying Fields.
You cant beat them.
Who wants to race against them.
Report Jack Morris February 28, 2016 4:49 AM GMT
You cant beat them when his mate goes to the death seat eases back and lets him off the fence
surely he has to get time.
Report Lloydy Trots Man February 28, 2016 4:56 AM GMT
Jack Morris,

Perth Inter was great No Purdons.
This is embarrassing.
People are that scared they let them off the fence when 3 back so hopefully they can get a drive on their horse.
A Certain Camp nearly ruined Mildura. Its back to its best now.
Purdons doing it to everywhere

Even Vinny Knight could not keep up with these.
I wont bet in a Race Purdon is in after today

I mentioned couple weeks ago how my interest in these big races is virtually non existent for reasons you mentioned Lloydy....

Having said that I have been Albion Park-- 3 out of last 4 week and have enjoyed grass roots level of watching warm up and the simple aspects of harness horses

Thats not giving your horse every chance to win. But because who it was there will be nothing said

WOW, WOW, WOW what an incredible days racing.  How noteworthy that even with the retention barn the All Stars team go like the champions they are.  There’s obviously some who have plenty to hide. How refreshing it is that Team Purdon’s success comes from astute purchases, god given talent, old fashioned hard work and horsemanship.  Alas the “tall poppy syndrome” is alive and well, they should be celebrated not castigated.   The sport needs stars and they are giving us a whole galaxy!  And they still have LAZARUS sitting at home!

Harness fans should be rejoicing at how lucky we are to see such freakish talent unleashed in one day.  The NSW Derby and Oaks both taken out by unbeaten (26/26) pacing machines.  WAIKIKI BEACH = I’ve never had such a big bet at such short odds in my life as he was as big a certainty as you would ever see EVER, should have been paying 1.0001
HAVE FAITH IN ME = where do you start?  He did what they just don’t do these days and wins a big Menangle mile from off the pace and in an Australasian record to boot.  As much raw ability as any horse I’ve ever seen, it’s scary to imagine what he will do when he gets some ringcraft.  He has gears he hasn’t learnt to use yet!  Maybe just maybe after all these years there is a horse who can knock Cardigan Bay off his mantle dare I say it.  HFIM may even be better than Auckland Reactor but now I’m getting a bit carried away LOL

Talking of records SMOLDA 1:52:7 for a mile and a half but he got “gifted” the race apparently LOL, nothing to do with his class and ability.  What a credit he is to the geniuses who are Team Purdon with the work that’s gone into patching up a horse who “could have been anything”
This sad world desperately needs heroes so thank you Mark and Nat for giving us so many SUPERHEROES

P.S. not all good news as Fight For Glory retired today due to injury

still shaking my head in disbelief, Lenny was home for all money but those with Faith were rewarded when
he stuck his head out in the knick of time to snatch victory in one for the ages

last prices matched Lenny 1.10, HFIM 20.0, burn baby burn

over and out, happy punting and may GOD bless you all!!

Village was 3rd nail in Coffin today.
Its become a Joke 1.10 shots and Braining everything.
Then the last race was just laughable.
If you have a Decent horse and u in a Big race, if purdon has one in just scratch your horse.
Today was not a good day for Harness racing Village.
I know you love the Nzrs.
Have Faith in me was on 3 legs sideways going quicker than Lenny.
They said Beutide ran the quickest he ever has and went terrible.
The thing is next year they will have a different Crop of horses and the ones that went around today will probably be running in Perth FFA struggling.
How can everything you have be a Freak?

Lloydy, as for freaks they are just lucky they have HFIM, Dream About Me, Wiakiki Beach and Lazarus at the same time
for most people these are once in a lifetime horses, as Adore Me and Smolda would be

there are long odds on faves everyday, in every state, you can't blame Mark Purdon for that!
I may be wrong but it appears Victoria is the worst offender at dishing up super shorties
the handicapping system needs a massive overhaul, more conditioned races and less "free kicks" for age group stars returning as C0's or whatever would be a start.  Surely less horses being bred doesn't help either.

Team Purdon don't win everything and even they have bad days when the layers of their under priced faves can clean up
I seem to remember "black friday" last show day when they had 4 faves beaten in the first 5 races, 6 for the day
Laying their top youngsters when they start their 4yo campaigns in a stand is also a good plan (Auckalnd Reactor and HFIM both blew to bits)
and their team are suspect when traveling and the caretaker trainers are looking after them before Mark and/or Nat arrive

you don't have to bet and there's no harm in enjoying watching FREAKS go round

Nat is a brilliant horsewoman and driver (just look at her record at Menangle),
Mark is a training genius so of course they are an awesome duo
how can you knock anyone who has the talent and puts in the work to be exceptional at what they do?????
their work ethic is incredible not to mention those pre dawn starts on freezing cold Canterbury mornings

HATS OFF TO THEM!!

weren't Waikiki Beach and Smolda bought from Australian sales? if so they were there for anyone astute and wealthy enough to buy them
they are also very lucky to be training offspring of the family of Scuse Me
their domination of big races may be a bit more difficult to sustain as I've heard they aren't buying as many at the sales this year

they have raised the bar so everyone else has to lift their game
Report Village Kid March 1, 2016 10:59 AM GMT
4/8 races at Swan Hill tonite had faves with an SP of 1.50 or less
zero starters from the Purdon barn Crazy
Report Village Kid March 1, 2016 11:18 AM GMT
I have clarify one thing re Smolda being "gifted" the race, that was the thing on Sunday that was the worst look for the sport.  Luke McCarthy who has an obvious association with the Purdon camp putting on the brakes so Smolda could get off was just obscene.  How many "get out of jail cards" does he have??? lets just hope he has run out, if nothing is done it will be beyond a joke......

Stewards questioned L McCarthy the Driver of OUR HI JINX NZ regarding his tactics during the race and in particular his reasons for working forward three wide from the vicinity of the 1700 metres, the circumstances in which SMOLDA was able to work away from the marker pegs in the vicinity of the 1000 metres as he restrained OUR HI JINX NZ, including the interference suffered by other runners, and the circumstances in which OUR HI JINX NZ was three wide from the vicinity of the 500 metres.  After taking evidence from L McCarthy the Inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed to allow Stewards to examine previous races of OUR HI JINX NZ and betting on the race.  Stewards ordered OUR HI JINX NZ be stood down pending the completion of a satisfactory trial and a veterinary certificate of fitness.

I note you didn't comment on TKDM's post. What would the odds of that be I wonder? Winning Powerball 3 times in a row maybe
Report spyvspy27 March 6, 2016 10:34 PM GMT
The odds of 4once in a lifetime horses winning on 1 day would be in the millions or even billions to 1, but if all trained by same camp, then pick a number and add a google of zero's after it

the miracle mile winner had been in a security guarded retention barn since the friday morning

all derby and oaks horses were also in the barn albeit not for quite as long

I agree that Our High Jinx drive was an obvious spit in the face of the stewards.  He saw what needed to be done so did it, with zero care about what might happen later.

I've been watching harness racing for a long time and can't recall any horse going to the death in a big field and then holding back to let the horse 2 behind the leader off the fence.  Let alone in a Group race.  And to then finish 65m last was triple underlying in neon colours what a self destructive move it was.

If the stewards don't do anything about that then drivers will have to firing wielding AK47s to get their attention.  The things drivers have been getting away with recently is astonishing.

IMO

The trots are far far more enjoyable being live at the track. I have taken to returning to the track and have been 3 out of last 5 meeting (rain other occasions) and despite a 2.5 hour turnaround drive it has been worth it on each occasion. (Binoculars for me a big big plus). (noting low attendances each time)

Think we all get used to tv viewing and after a while gets quite sterile and our opinions etc driven by the financial outcome of the meeting.

Get back to the track and accept that drivers are likely to assist their mates from time to time.
Report Village Kid March 10, 2016 11:18 AM GMT
I always loved a quote from Brian Hancock....."people have been saying the trots are gone for 100 years"

seems a bit of confusion re my comment "once in a life time",  the current All Stars Stable superstars would be once in a lifetime horses for
the average owner or trainer......NOT the best you will see in a lifetime like a Cardigan Bay

In NZ they have an excellent one hour weekly trotting show The Box Seat (a million times better than In The Gig)
any way Mick Geurin made a good point re all the All Stars baggers, basically they have a small army of happy owners
some of their horses have syndicate members from around the globe and the joy these horses bring them is obvious at the post race presentations
the tall poppy syndrome is alive and well unfortunately

Should be a great nights racing at Alexandra Park Friday night with a couple of truck loads of ALL STARS going round including SMOLDA
and truly freakish 3yo LAZARUS in the Great Northern Derby
and the next day the assault continues at the opposite end of the country at Invercargil
Report Village Kid March 10, 2016 12:10 PM GMT
I find this All Stars  "ruining racing" sentiment from Lloydy and others both puzzling and disappointing
as CTS pointed out on MM day their horse were under gaurd in retention and still raced to expectations

they are sucessful with good breeding, hard work and talent

whereas in recent times in NSW trainers, drivers, stewards and drug cheats have been found guilty of conspiring to fix races
Vic has had the Cramps and others also fixing races, doping etc some with underworld connections

but hey, thats all good, it's Team Purdon "ruining" it......FFS, give me a break!!
Report henryluca March 10, 2016 9:37 PM GMT

With reference to my own advice :

Having seen many of all the stars of the past (many of us have)  one of the most outstanding if not the outstanding  looking in terms of muscle and stature imo was Jack Morris I saw parading around the M/Valley parade ring. Looked like  some type of machine designed as a horse.....

The point being that if I was not at the track that night I would not carry with me such a prized and vivid memory ....Love

Has the Our High Jinx inquiry been finalised?

Lloydy interesting to note that your man The Master is tweeting that Purdon is the best trainer in the world.

Not that he would appreciate a recommendation from that source given recent history.
