It's only taken 17 years for Sky Channel to wake up and realise that they weren't utilising the full width and height of the screen/monitor.
How long do we have to wait I wonder, for them to get rid of all the colours, sparkly rubbush and scrolling text and just show us what we want to see? |

Think the protest upheld was correct
Lotsa pocket talking outrage, methinks. |

Think the protest upheld was correct
Why do you think so.....very bad for punters if interference 900m out caused by slowing of the pace... IMO flabbergasted by result and had no pocket involved |
|
By:
Margins of say a neck can now be overturned by incident 900 m out.....
Very bad for racing imo Can someone support an argument in favour of the protest decision ... |
|
By:
Yes, I'm sure they can.

Well I remember Lady Lynette? Having a race taken off her at MV one night ....for interference even further from the finish so that precedent is set.
Slowing of pace , barometric pressure, world peace., horse A was headed and fought back......irrelevant. Horse A swerves out (wasn't pushed out) pushes horse B out 5 wide and posted without cover. Margin a head.... I understand the "controversy" but imo.......Pretty easy decision |

TINS
GREAT memory! Tasmanian mare Lady Lynette was denied a fairytale end to her racing career after losing the Group 2 Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley on protest. Spirit Song's jockey Nash Rawiller successfully objected against Michael Guthrie for interference 1200 metres from the finish. Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey said it been "five or six years" since a protest for interference at such an early stage of a race had been upheld. Rawiller also protested for interference at the 100m but Bailey said the stewards "didn't put any weight on the incident". However Bailey said the incident at the 120mm forced Rawiller to check and lose his position. “He finished up probably at least a length further back than he normally would have been," Bailey said of the earlier incident. Trainer Aaron Purcell said that by shifting in, Lady Lynette had pushed Spirit Song in behind while the race plan was to be outside the leader. Lady Lynette beat Spirit Song home by a head and with the protest upheld Purcell celebrated his biggest win. |

WOW just saw the rear vision of THAT protest:
Horses in front Zahra pull up...he either goes through them over them or evasive action and pulls around sharply..I now see the interference greater than the margin ...but man ...tough call...could have had another K Russell incident .....should be a common sense provision ..incidence avoids accident negates effect of interference 2 kilometres from winning post |

Terry Bailey simply Amazing.Definitely in the top 5 worst decisions ever. The interference (if you could call it that was caused by leaders pulling up was horses overreacting). After going past Palentino, Palentino kicked back & was going away. I had small $$$ change when protest upheld but still won on race, Think the real winner is a superstar.
Tivaci - second past the post; rider Craig Williams lodged an objection against Palentino (first past the post) alleging interference near the 900m. On the evidence it was established that near the 900m when the pace slackened, Palentino shifted out abruptly to avoid heels and in doing so severely hampered Tivaci forcing that horse out off its rightful running, resulting in the colt being obliged to race extremely wide on the track without any cover from that point. Stewards were of the opinion that had this interference not occurred, bearing in mind the short head margin between the two at the finish, Tivaci would have finished ahead of Palentino and therefore the objection was upheld and the placings were amended as follows: Tivaci - first placegetter, Palentino - second placegetter, Tulsa - third placegetter and Lizard Island - fourth placegetter and correct weight was declared. Lizard Island - raced ungenerously approaching the 1000m and hung in away from Bon Aurum. Gold Symphony - got its head up when passing the 1000m when racing ungenerously and near the 900m shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of Lizard Island thereby hampering Ready For Victory. Ready For Victory - hampered near the 900m by Gold Symphony which shifted out to avoid heels. Then raced wide without cover. Palentino - steadied passing the 1000m to avoid the heels of Gold Symphony which was shifting out. |
