This is imo one of the most memorable races of any year. Personally I look forward to it as much if not more than the Melbourne Cup.

Leaving aside Bonecrusher/Waverley Star there are so many many many more great and at times unbelievable finishes and hopefully some will be posted ( Super Impose/ Better Loosen Up and many more),

In the meantime some recent statistics:

5 out of last  5 winners  finished no further back than 3rd in their previous start

4 out of last 5 winners have been 4yo’s

4 out of last 5 winners have started over 2000m+ in their previous start

4 out of last 5 winners have been 4th or 5th start into their preparation (Adelaide being exception)

Cant wait to do some proper form but based on present commentary that suggest he is many lengths better than Adelaide well....yep its Highland Reel ...that races into "equine immortality"

Arod ($8.50)  - more a miler at this level and Preferment ($13.00)  out of his depth (off the back of win in an average Turnball)

Just sayin! Both look comfortable lays....

Criterion is the best horse in the land, Australian or International and should be winning this, Kermidec isn't far behind but I'm not sure MV is going to suit, gets to far back for mine

They were the two I liked henry Mischief and I'll be backing Fame Game and Preferment in the Cup at this stage.

Was Criterion below his best in the UK?  He finished behind The Grey Gatsby in both runs by over 3 lengths.  Arod raced The Grey Gatsby in his third start and finished 2nd to him, beaten by 3/4 length over 2100m (3yo Gr2).  I do concede Arod might be a risk in a strongly run 2000m.

Only saw one of those runs, but Criterion was way too far forward in the run I saw.  As a result, failed to finish off.  Either way, don't underestimate the difference a change in hemisphere makes.

Formline shows him up a little of course.  But he was racing in a different hemisphere, and now he is home and they are.

Been watching this horse since the Todman, and shows up as something that given the right run, will be very very hard to beat......

Fawkner's run in the Caufield stakes too bad to be true? or has Criterion turned the tables on him and become the premier wfa horse in Australia at the moment at around 2000m.

Interesting to note there's no light weight 3yo's in the race this year.  They've played a big part in shaping the race in the previous few editions.

Also, what a ride Tommy Berry on Chataqua in the Manikato.  Hopefully it can get to Ascot and towel them up.

Like the odds of GALLANT HARMONY.  Horse is a flying machine, and should get the sit just behind the leaders, and will be strong through the line.  Big odds for mine.

Think Silent Sedition on top here and should be winning.  Love the odds of DAGNY though, whose numbers suggest could give this a shake.

On them both.

Found MAWAHIBB on top, but can't touch those odds.  No bragging rights there.  So having a go at a couple again.

WELL SIGHTED seems ridiculous price.  Met the favourite 2 starts ago, beaten .4 lengths, taking .5 seconds off it in the final 200m, with this race an extra 200 metres.  Fav will be right in it, but no reason this should be paying 20s, vs 2.50 the fav.

The other one, is TRUCULENT.  Will be last rounding the turn, and capable of a big sprint.  Last start was wide the trip and pulled down, but ran splits of 10.68 10.61 11.16 from the 1000 to 400.  Holds off a bit, those sort of times well good enough to get passed them here.  Wouldn't be touching it sub 10, but 260+ looks pretty nice to me.

In retrospect, probably should have laid the fav there at those odds, but oh well.
