All boards associated with the Queensland racing industry have been abolished in response to the greyhound live-baiting scandal, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced.
Racing Queensland CEO Darren Condon has been stood down and asked to show cause why he should not be removed.
Ms Palaszczuk made the announcement in State Parliament as she handed down her response to the final report into live baiting from the Commission of Inquiry, headed by Alan MacSporran QC, which was delivered yesterday morning.
"As Mr MacSporran said yesterday, it is clear that Racing Queensland has failed, and that started with the boards," she said.
"Today we are starting a clean slate. We have appointed Mr Ian Hall from KPMG to advise on implementation of interim administrative arrangements and to ensure effective ongoing management of Racing Queensland.
"All Queenslanders want a racing industry that is based on integrity and proper animal welfare, not one that is characterised by cruelty, dishonesty and, at best, dubious regulation and an environment in which there is a failure of simple compliance measures.
"My government will deliver that.
"Today, I have directed the Minister [for Sport and Racing] to abolish all of the boards associated with the racing industry in Queensland – namely the Queensland All Codes Racing Industry Board, the Queensland Greyhound Racing Board, the Queensland Harness Racing Board and the Queensland Thoroughbred Racing Board."
Queensland Racing have told ABC News they will not comment on Ms Palaszczuk's announcement.
In his report, the commissioner said it would be "naive in the extreme" to conclude that the live baiting of greyhounds was not widespread.
Mr MacSporran said public confidence had been "dealt an almost terminal blow" by the exposure of the practice within the greyhound industry.
He said those who participated in the "archaic and barbaric practice" had let down the entire industry and treated the public with disdain.
Many in the industry had chosen to turn a blind eye to the cruelty, he said.
Ms Palaszczuk said his report recommended establishing a more accurate and consistent program of monitoring dogs from birth to maturity "to ensure that no animal is able to disappear off the map".
She said these recommendations were "now under active consideration".

of course now no-one WITHIN the industry can by Anna's move be viable in that position
greyhound racing must now by her own definition be run by someone outside the industry
maybe there's an honest ex-banker somewhere needing a job who can take over
or maybe even an honest ex-politician
good find Henry cheers ... of course now no-one WITHIN the industry can by Anna's move be viable in that positiongreyhound racing must now by her own definition be run by someone outside the industry maybe there's an honest ex-banker somewhere needin
185 page report but i can't find the page where they will hire 300 lollipop people to monitor the cars driving in/out of the 40 or more private tracks.
Anna, starting to look more and more like she's got herself a BF of late.Maybe she can Wax Lyrical with the Nick Xenophobia bloke, hire some top shelf wiglet and bring all codes to a standstill.
Now that would be a Bunfight worth viewing.

Couldn't be happier about the decision, hopefully it will destroy a loathsome industry, now if we can just ban trainers for life and drum them out of the thoroughbred and harness industries completely for giving drugs like meth to horses we might actually start making some progress. Therapeutic substances are one thing but giving drugs that destroy people lives let alone what on earth it would do to some poor animal is completely beyond the pale and totally unacceptable under any circumstances and they should face criminal charges for doing so.

Im way off the mark with my 40 odd tracks. Point 275. A simple strategy of examining Google Earth established 97 tracks and bull rings.
(25 Isis Training camps. 14 illegal Immigration centres. 45 Drug plantations. 2400 temporary grave sites. 6 factories leased by Corp's using some of the illegal immigrants to Canvas new customers. 1 Unidentified train-line running directly from a major horse breeder's farm to a national Pet Food factory.
All of the above were dismissed as possible glitches with the Google earth satellite but the size of the blonde's brrreasts sunbaking in her backyard were indeed confirmed as 38DD.

Couldn't be happier about the decision, hopefully it will destroy a loathsome industry,
Unfortunately they will never be able to catch those putting vasf the track on the first turn and barrel into others ...
Previously raised by Henry and jumped on by others as a stupid archaic idea...
BUT Henry knows....
Greyhounds..an industry of predominately gambling fodder
The days of the old tracks (Gabba for example) where prominent greyhound trainers (make that very prominent) wound stand on the perimeter of the betting ring and single to associated bookmakers by waving form guide up ...up...up to ease prices of their greyhounds...and yes the 6-4 price commodities run like 20-1 commodities...
It is and always has been a very very corrupt game

Fish Milkshake Lesbians (preferably good looking ones like in the movies) going down for the growl on each other (usually 2 good looking lesbians but the more the merrier)preferably at the same time (69er), or a guy going down on a chick.
Like I said...your a funny bugger..

You and I have at least one thing in common...the value of being on the track by the parade ring as invaluable source and or guidance to horses fitness...
I would be ...let me see ...at the track ..Sat day gallops / Sat night trots/Wed gallops /WEd night trots/ Friday night trots (Redcliffe).... every week for maybe 2 and half decades......
I could tell you if Lindy's Boy/Lindy's Nypmph/Yarraman Champ/Yarraman Bye Bye / Just a Breeze / Wattles Winger or any number of 100's of horse had put on an ounce of weight
I had a named pattern for every style of warm up gallops would have to the barriers eg a "PJ" ..was when I first saw Prince Jeaux warm up to the barriers....etc etc etc etc....
At least at the trots I could make any second fav a fav....
We have more in common than what you think....
As you get older ...yes you too will get fruitier...

Ironically....all this happens in the biggest week of Queensland horse racing.....Horse racing pays the price for greyhound industry knuckelheads....gotta feel for the hose racing industry...whole Qld racing board chopped and now KPMG accountant administering.....
Initial opinion is that Qld labour grandstanding on this issue.....

ok Henry maybe some grandstanding but.....(and I'm on the conservative side of politics) Anna has done the right thing
LNP appointed Kevin Dixon to the top job in RQ
RQ and its boards INCLUDE greyhound racing....they didn't give 2 hoots about the dogs and were caught out doing nothing
Far too many secrets with this admin
Tatts deal for increased prizemoney, where in actual fact Tatts come out best and all RQ was reduce the take out the govt gets all hush hush no finer details
Eagle farm - a total fkup , out of play and stood still whilst the money wasn't flowing (not signed off) supposed to be ready for winter carnival, as it is lucky to be back before 2016...ot best track out of play for 18 months so it seems!
Toowoomba - track awful and they cant get it right, every Sat is a Good4 which in the old is Dead4 - overwatered and the roots are not deep seated, crazy bias tracks and evern had to close for a few months - next Friday they are racing on the inner track which is a disgrace to start with let alone having a race day
Ipswich - numerous problems with the track to this day
Far too many country meetings in places like Kilcoy/Gatton on stand alone Sundays when arguably one of the best tracks in the land Sunshine Coast eats their turnover figures
Zero consultation with anyone not within the close inner circle , we then get Australias richest race day of $10M at the Gold Coast wait for it....all for magic millions graduates......so the extra money saved via tatts goes into these races which 95% horses in training all over the state got no hope of seeing....but it does help out poor old Gerry and his ailing company sell more yearlings at over the top prices
2 directors of the all codes board resigned over not being asked to have involvement at any stage of the new Tatts deal.
2 or 3 cobalt positives ONLY..... 'my guess' is LOTS swept under the carpet....many in admin known to have horses with trainers who now all of a sudden cant train a winner....how strange
chief integrity officer wade birch on leave.....at the most important time for racing up here THE WINTER CARNIVAL...who could've thunk that?
courier mail racing editor sucking up to the admin...makes us believer all in honky dory.....when in fact other journos in same paper plus stablemate sunday mail calling for all to be sacked...commonsense really
the lack of communication from RQ on ALL matters is astounding to say the least! I was no fan of Bob Bentley (dictator!) but he did have an idea of how to run the show....
report recommends integrity unit of people with no conflict to of interest (owners/breeders/club members etc) and this is a good move
I don't sit on the left side on politics but imo Anna is on the right track and Campbell got it all wrong with racing
2c rant over

Track problems..cant comment
Ozrazer...you are very well informed on this topic ....
The only outstanding thought is whether anyone new in these positions of administration etc could do better.....or whether the hot potato nature of these issues would be transferred to newbies on the job and then they too would seem ineffective....and whether those same newbies would have acted any differently at the time of the problems.....
Then there is always the thought that hindsight is perfect vision...
Conclusion---you have added valuable insight and perspective to this topic
Dont know ...

methinks when this new integrity part gets going and they start digging retrospectively.....it could get ugly for many.....
just a few more things....new RQ website...cant see the raceday live tab they used to have where SOMETIMES they would put up stuff like....tactic changes etc.....GONE..great for integrity huh?
track ratings..Toowoomba on weetwood day given out as heavy 8....booommmm race 1 track record...better upgrade the track....I mean how many owners/trainers scratched due to incorrect rating....
all in the all the buck stops at the top...and the top didn't give a flying fig about it...and in the end we have a pro-active govt in this area...now all we need to do is lobby them for Racing NSW style minimum bet limits and to be not treated like criminals by these scum corps
thanks Henrymethinks when this new integrity part gets going and they start digging retrospectively.....it could get ugly for many.....just a few more things....new RQ website...cant see the raceday live tab they used to have where SOMETIMES they wou
I hope they revert to the days where you could go to a nearby trot or dog meeting of a Saturday afternoon, and bet with a bookie on the gallops,as they used to do at Rocklea trots for example. Who cares if the trots were "hanging off the coat-tails of the gallops", as the gallops industry used to say.. Sorry about the spaces-I don't know how to fix it.

First, they want to get rid of their UK banking operations. Clydesdale Bank has been a huge drain on their books for a while.
It’s also been quite controversial. In April, UK banking regulators fined Clydesdale Bank a record £20.7 million, or $39.6 million in Aussie dollars.
The fine was for misleading customers about payment protection insurance, and then mishandling complaints.
But the regulators say that they won’t let NAB do that unless they set aside money to pay wronged customers who are still coming out of the woodwork.
They’ve told them to put up £1.7 billion (AU$3.25 billion).
So that’s where part of the $5.5 billion will go.
..... based on the greyhound scenario ... then the board of the NAB have to go as well
maybe the Nat Aust Bank board should be dismissed as well ??https://au.finance.yahoo.com/news/nabs-finishes-5-5b-raising-230707410.htmlNational Australia Bank has completed its $5.5 billion capital raising after selling more than 28 million shares ov
