The NSW Government has stepped in to ensure that corporate bookmakers cannot refuse to accept bets under the Racing NSW minimum bet rules.
The Government has backed a minimum bet rule that was introduced by Racing NSW back on September 1.
Deputy Premier and Minister of Racing Troy Grant said the new regulatory conditions that come with the rule will prevent wagering operators from refusing or limiting bets to customers.
"The introduction of a minimum bet limit by Racing NSW followed regular complaints by punters that some wagering operators were refusing to take their bets, particularly if they had a winning record,” Grant said.
"The new Racing NSW condition requires wagering operators to be prepared to take on a bet for a minimum amount on any single fixed odds wager on NSW thoroughbred races.
"This is the same rule that applies to on-course bookies and maintains the integrity of thoroughbred racing.
"Some online bookmakers have refused to express unqualified support for the new minimum bet rules and therefore the NSW Government is making a regulation to enforce the new minimum betting rules.”
The combined monitoring of the rule by Racing NSW and the Government will protect online punters that have previously had accounts closed or restrictions placed solely to avoid complying with the minimum bet rule.
Below are the current specifications of the minimum bet rule.
For Australian Wagering Operators with Net Assessable Turnover on NSW Thoroughbred races greater than or equal to $5 million
Race type

Metropolitan NSW Thoroughbred races - Wagering operator to lose a minimum $2,000 (*place component $800)
Non-Metropolitan NSW Thoroughbred races - Wagering operator to lose a minimum $1,000 (*place component $400)

The TABCORP stable of NSW TAB, VIC TAB, ACT TAB and Luxbet are blatantly ignoring the new Minimum Bet Rule.
It is totally pointless making a complaint to RacingNSW about any entity in the TABCORP stable. RacingNSW will dismiss your complaint, and then refuse to offer you an explanation, as to why your complaint was dismissed. I would question the integrity of RacingNSW when it comes to dealing with TABCORP. |

RacingNSW have been pathetic, when it comes to policing the Minimum Bet Rule. If has been almost 4 months since the Minimum Bet Rule came in, and RacingNSW appears to have done nothing about the William Hill group of companies (Centrebet, Sportingbet and Tom Waterhouse) offering different sets of odds. They say "Money to be made, cheating to be done" |
