Every time you here about a fixed odds plunge on the TAB on trot races it is a complete lie, opening odds stated were NEVER available, just a complete lie stated by foolish sky racing commentators. Do not be fooled by these comments.
If had a horse and knew it was not going to win ..I would create an avalanche of money ...get the mug frenzy and lay off and more ...
Yes more often than not it is part of a bigger rort....

First and third posters seem to have had a bit too much coffee recently. Obviously these opening odds were available more often than not.
For example, after 1 decent trial Columbias Deejay has currently been impatiently backed first up from $6.50 into $4.60 at Ballarat. The Sky boys will do their job and hype this up so it will shorten on the tote late.
Fixed odds shorten early = tote odds shorten late. That's how it works.

While it would initially seem very difficult to get people to put hard earned cash on a horse driven by David Magri the Sky boys are professionals and got it as short as $4.20 in NSW. This was a textbook example of how to get a horse paying terrible odds on the tote but the $6.50 was certainly available to anyone who wanted it early.
Obviously if you wanted it to start goods odds you'd have to do the opposite. Don't back it at all early. Back something else if nobody wants to do it for you. Sky will steer the lemmings onto that so you can lay it back late for a modest profit.
WAIT until the Sky boys have finished carrying on about the shorteners and THEN get your money on. If they'd done that with Columbias Deejay it would have started $7 - $8 easily, assuming they're not going crazy.
Harness punting is 90% about the late lemming money. If you're following it then you'd better enjoy baked beans on toast.

Reminds me of the old days when in NZ holidaying- Re: greyhounds
Some TAB operators would bundle tickets on say Favorite....put them at mouth of machine and tap the side of it ..while running first few dollar tickets through.....tap tap tap ,,,fav jumps in front ....tap tap tap...rest of tickets go through in micro-seconds.....larger bets after the jump...

Punters appear to have infinite cash and appetite for pain as they sent Columbias Deejay around as a heavily backed odds on favourite tonight, and David Magri again swiftly ensured they had zero hope of any collect.
Never ever back David Margi at short odds. How hard is that to figure out? But Sky can make people do it. Amazing stuff.
