Spot on, add unitab to the list for choosing guaranteed pools rather than actual jackpots saving them having to throw anything in to support the meeting.

A complaint sent to Sky today after their disgraceful effort in failing to telecast the Methven Cup, a meeting they supposed to be covering.
Hi I was just wondering why I am paying for Sky 2 & 3, I specifically pay for that so I can watch NZ harness etc.
I tuned in on Sunday to watch race 9 the $25,000 Methven Cup at Mount Harding NZ which featured Smolda, Bit Of A Legend etc and a number of NZ Cup candidates only to see the person in the studio jabbering away about nothing.
No races being broadcast while the vision was on Mount Gambier dogs etc where nothing was happening, they weren't being loaded and weren't even on the track, there was no races or anything else on. I also quickly switched to sky 1, the race wasn't being shown there either. At the same time I was on the phone to a mate in NZ in the 3,4 minutes leading up to the Cup and at no stage did the person on duty in the studio even mention the Methven Cup nor were there any pre race dividends.
Sadly this isn't an isolated incident and is typical of the way in which harness fans are treated.
Several minutes after the Cup wasrun we received a replay of approximately the last 2400m of the race which was the first and only time it was mentioned. The person on duty said it was a replay of the last lap (incorrect) and had the audacity to comment afterwards that was more than we bargained for, yet there was not even the slightest mention of crossing to NZ for the Methven Cup a meeting they were supposed to be covering.
How on earth can this sort of thing continually occur and why am I paying for non existent harness coverage?

When are you talking about gardenstar? Globe has been on SKY1 recently, and is again today. It usually only goes over to SKY2 when times clash with a bigger meeting, not much they can do about that. Although the scheduling of times is ridiculous sometimes. Yesterday there were times we had 3 races in 3 minutes followed by an 8 minute gap.

BTW, I don't see the problem with races being shunted to SKY2. What difference does it make? If you haven't got the $5 extra to purchase the extra 2 SKY channels you probably shouldn't be punting. Maybe I'm missing something?

The problem is races running late. Start fining the race clubs for late running and the problem will go away. How many trot races have you seen where they finish the warm up with one minute to go, then some fcker jumps out of the buggy and adjusts gear, making the race late. Finish the warmup a minute earlier dickheads! The gallops are even worse. They start loading a field of 14 maidens with 30 seconds to go at country tracks. How about loading them with the aim of having them all in 1 minute before the race starts. I can hear you all yelling "no no the horses will play up!". Well consider that the first horse loaded is usually in there for 3 minutes plus anyway, so what's the difference? If they aim for a minute early they may only run 2 minutes late every time! Fine the race clubs and suddenly they'll find ways to start on time.

That was strange because it meant they bumped a Geraldton race which was running on time completely. It must be very important to watch dogs walk to the boxes.

They transfer that many races from Sky1 to Sky2 they'll soon have to swap their channel names. Amazing how many times on Sky1 you watch horses milling around while the race you should and could be watching is on Sky2

Tabcorp Holdings Limited (“Tabcorp”) has advised that the current short-term agreement between its subsidiary, Sky Racing, and ThoroughVisioN Pty Ltd (“TVN”) for NSW and Victorian thoroughbred racing media rights will expire today without agreement being reached on a new long-term deal.
From tomorrow, Thursday 18 December, 2014, wagering on NSW and Victorian thoroughbred race meetings will continue to be available but will not be supported by vision on the Sky Racing channels.
Sky Racing is putting in place measures to minimise the impact on customers.
The previous long-term contract in place between Sky Racing and TVN expired on 31 December 2012. It has since formed the basis of multiple short-term rollover arrangements, while the parties worked to agree a new, long-term arrangement. Over the past two years, negotiations have proceeded with best endeavours and in good faith, and both parties have placed significant focus on reaching a new agreement.
Sky Racing put an attractive package to TVN which has not been accepted. Further, it is clear that another short-term rollover of existing arrangements will not deliver a long-term outcome.
Sky Racing’s priority remains to successfully conclude a long-term, commercial rights negotiation, and to ensure the resumption of full coverage of NSW and Victorian thoroughbred race meetings on Sky Racing as soon as possible. Sky Racing is committed to agreeing a long-term broadcast rights deal that underpins and supports wagering, which is the biggest source of funding for the racing industry.

"We are deeply disappointed that agreement could not be reached with Tabcorp after two years of protracted negotiation.
We are looking for a “fair go” for our sport, in fact we were prepared to take less than what we currently receive today.
Sky were simply unwilling to give us fair value for our rights,” Bruce Mann, TVN CEO, said today.
“Tabcorp is an extremely important partner for the racing industry, but they have repeatedly attempted to drive down the value of broadcasting rights for Australia’s two premier thoroughbred racing states – a contradictory position to world-wide media rights trends.
“Their strategy has resulted in the loss of the rights that underpin Tabcorp’s highly profitable and successful media division” Mr Mann said.
Consumers wishing to watch NSW and Victorian racing can do so through several options: TVN Channel 522 on Foxtel, which is available to all Residential Subscribers; live online and all hand- held devices at no charge (normally $5 per week) until the end of January 2015, via Racing Network (www.racingnetwork.com.au), TVN’s joint venture with Telstra, as well as other industry websites.

TABCORP’S SKY LOSES TV RIGHTS TO NSW AND VICTORIAN THOROUGHBRED HORSE RACING
TVN Wednesday, December 17, 2014 - 7:02 PM
Sky Racing 1, Sky Racing 2 and Sky World will lose their right to broadcast NSW and Victorian thoroughbred horse racing from Thursday, December 18.
TVN, Australia’s premier thoroughbred racing network, will now be the sole broadcaster of all metropolitan, provincial and country race meetings in NSW and Victoria.
Tabcorp, which operates the three Sky Racing channels, has failed to agree on terms to renew its licence with TVN, whose owners, the metropolitan Sydney and Victorian turf clubs, control the broadcasting rights to thoroughbred racing in NSW and Victoria.

In addition, the Seven Network will continue to broadcast 25 premium race days per year.
To accommodate the majority of pubs and clubs TVN have received assistance from Foxtel/FOX SPORTS who are supporting the racing industry and will be providing them with TVN to FOX SPORTS commercial venues at no additional charge during this interim period.
Note: TVN, which broadcasts NSW and Victorian thoroughbred racing, is jointly owned by the Australian Turf Club (ATC), Victoria Racing Club (VRC), Melbourne Racing Club (MRC), Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC) and Country Racing Victoria. TVN also holds the media rights to NSW Country and Provincial Racing.

All part of Tabcorp's strategy, which is now gurgling down the dunny.
After losing a supreme court judgement to the tune of $680 mill(will appeal to High Crt),the brains trust at Tah are now plotting ways to 'get something back'.So trying to get TVN to bite at an inferior contract is just part of it.
Tabcorp's board are littered with Bachelor of Everyfreakinthing diplomas. Past CEO's of all the Biggin's.An Array of ex Bean counters, they've got the whole shabang to form a Gee Whiz Team(on paper). Warragul Race 8 (Holding 36k win pool 3 totes & final leg of Quaddie)disappears into oblivion while we watch Bathurst dogs sniffing and scratching behind the boxes (total win hold 18k 3 totes) plus Sky 2 has closed down for the day and we watch Bred to Win reruns. HRV CEO will do nothing. He tweets what a great coverage they got from Sky on Vic Cup night only to have Herald Sun journalist Matt Stewart slam the very same coverage. Here we have a racing person complaining about Sky's handling of the trots and the CEO applauds it and sees nothing wrong with the same coverage. No wonder SKY Channel continues to get worse for trots punters.
