Thank god he's gone ,couldn't stand his rambling on about pet shops etc, took away valuable air time from harness racing coverage for a so called sport that's nothing more than chook lotto.

Best combination of poise, voice, and delivery of information in sports calling in this country ever.

PS.. Lets..

not sure of the stats but i think that of all the racing codes the dogs run true to form more so than any other.

At least they try from go to whoa. More picket fences in the form lines of the dogs than any other. The fact that they receive bumps in

transit is off set by the amount of early leaders that win. In comparison to the other codes that have a human element in the running

of their races would put them, more in the category of chook lotto imo.

AFL:

Just the opposite...leaders win cause others are nobbled in some way, including:

Vaseline across the eye (hence charges off the track when previous run nailed to fence on the bunny)
Pie in the tummy
Run in the afternoon to tire in race

Sorry AFL....just how it is and always been.....

IMO

All those things are equally applied across all the codes in various forms.

Doesn't alter what i posted.

PA is a legend and Let's I didn't take you for a troll but your comments were  inaccurate and out of line.
Hope he has a great retirement and doesn't decide to go into politics which has been touted for some time.
Henry you are staring to become very similar to a former conspiracy advocate and forum person named lazza!

"A conspiracy theory is an explanatory proposition that accuses two or more persons, a group, or an organization of having caused or covered up, through secret planning and deliberate action, an illegal or harmful event or situation.[1][2][3]"

Yep....! sounds like me.....I believe there is many untold cover ups and secret planning in many gambling oriented industry.

Just couldn't stand the guy and the incessant drivel he went on with that's all nothing more meant by it than that. Used to drive me nuts having to listen to that craap  while waiting for races at the trots.

Paul Ambrosoli...a true race calling legend.

" the green light is through to the control tower, the bunny is set in motion".

Wenty will never be the same.

As someone who has tried and failed, I can vouch for the fact that Greyhound race-calling is the toughest gig out of the 3 racing codes. It's incredibly difficult to convey a meaningful description of an event involving 8 runners in a race lasting 30 seconds and sometimes less.
Added to that is the fact that you've got no ongoing owner's colours to help you. A dog who carried the red last start might be in the yellow this week.
Ten races a night. A new set of 8 dogs going around every 20 minutes. By the end of the night your mind is just a swirling mess of dog names and rug-colours.

Paul Ambrosoli perfected this most difficult of arts. And he did so, initially, in the days before Sky Channel, giving graphic race descriptions to a radio audience. At all times he maintained perfect composure, delivering his call with a majestic vocal delivery.

I would rate him as the world's all-time greatest race-caller of any code.

Never again will a dog tip be revealed after looking under a mullet....never again will a dodgy dog trainer
wearing a designer cardigan appear from behind a corinthian door....
