Read it long time back rate it 6/10 Starts off good liked Bill's tactics and fearlessness.
felt the book lost it's way 3/4 when Perkins builds up this so called big bombshell which turns out to be a fizzer. Still an ok read. |

The ending is really sh1t.

Really good book, fascinating reading about the betting duels, felt for the bloke who got out only to lose on a protest then did the lot

Read it many decades ago ......one of the few books I have read from cover to cover....remember it to be a good read.....world has changed ....grandson just sold out for $35 million...

......one of the few books I have read from cover to cover....
Fancy admitting to that on the forum!! Who the fckk is Kevin Perkins? Do you mean the bloke that was Peter Brock's co-driver at Bathurst? |
By:
He was a very good investigative reporter if I remember correctly he'd been pestering Waterhouse for years about writing his story and if I recall what the book said and said he was going to write it without or without his cooperation and in the end waterhouse agreed to cooperate.

So it's the book about Waterhouse?
By:
If I recall ..I think some States had an injunction restraining its sale for a long time.....
By:
why?
By:
"This book has had more publicity than Lady Chatterley's Lover."
And sold about a million fewer copies!!! |
By:
I think its sale was banned throughout Australia I bought my copy in NZ a long, long, time ago when the ban was in place

Overall it is well written and interesting, with some parts that drag on a bit. Seems the water houses had a few enemies even back then
By:
Didn't the Waterhouse family pay him to write the book ?

Castiron,
As usual, you are on the money. Perkins was a Waterhouse flookey... |
By:
What's a flookey?
By:

By:
The chapters on the fine cotton ring in affair where interesting
