Gives another fav every chance, has led at last 3, today from wide draw he grabs hold and is last settling, well back to turn ends up 2.5l behind winner in straight, Ryan does very little on it until 100m out when it can't win and it hits line full of running.
This fkn germ does it year in and year out with barely a question asked.
There was another poster that has bagged him a few times, but we must be mistaken because stewards have never gone further than asking the odd question and they should know shouldn't they?
As of 4 February 2014"Ryan currently leads the premiership with 79 winners so far for the 2013/14 season. He sits 19 wins clear of the evergreen Robert Thompson, who himself is approaching his 4000th winner in the saddle over a glittering career."http
No point really as I too have noticed great disparity in his riding efforts.
I guess same old story ..only the lesser jockeys get the stewards interest .....

Henry, someone else once posted that Ryan rides well over 100 winners per season so how could he "not do his best" on say 20-30 per year?
Well his strike rate is approx 1 winner every 5 rides, so even if he did do his best on the 20-30 rides, not all would have won, maybe 5 to 8 would have
Still no stewards report for Dubbo Friday. Are they looking into R5 I wonder?Henry, someone else once posted that Ryan rides well over 100 winners per season so how could he "not do his best" on say 20-30 per year?Well his strike rate is approx 1 win
In traffic , out of traffic, too far back,,up on the speed...these guys ride like we drive a car.....
Pretend whacks of the whip..tank them early., too far back...
Country tracks with $9 000 prize money..hmmm .....motivation has to be elsewhere....
Betfair is a godsend to many

Here's a true story, i'm driving on a motorway today and just thinking about the ride when I notice car in front has personalized number plates, number plate was HOOKIT, 100% true story. I'm not casting any aspersions of course.
I don't think ride should have got a mention in SOTQ, maybe they should have a segment ROTQ

Greg Ryan just basically admitted his guilt for his Grey Pariz ride at Dubbo, It just won at Bathurst, Ryan had a ride in the race, Smart Money, the horse never leads yet there was Ryan sticking it to Grey Pariz around 800 out NB Ryan hardly ever contests the lead that far out and especially when they are rolling along.
Connections of Smart Money also now have reason to be aggrieved with Ryan, he used their horse to try and bring Grey Pariz undone.

Spy Sir Francis Drake was told,Captain 3 Spanish ships on the starboard side. Cabin boy bring my Red Scarlet jacket if I'm wounded i want the crew's morale to remain strong, so the red jacket will camouflage my wound. Then the call from the crows nest came, sorry Capt make that 33 ships on the starboard side. Cabin boy, better make that my Brown Corduroys.
At the 1000m Ryan had on the same strides today. If he had the mic on we would have heard 'Tiff slow down a bit,ffs tiff there's 500 to ease.

Charged and copped a 6 week suspension, thats right 6 weeks, so why do some get 12 months and others 6 weeks? Because others looked worse? Stewards, not allowing a horse to run on its merits is not allowing a horse to run on its merits

"To prove how popular he is in the bush, The Daily Telegraph learned when he was injured — and fellow senior rider Matthew Cahill was missing through suspension — betting turnover on Dubbo meetings dipped a staggering $100,000."

A cynic might say the reason for turnover dropping is that a couple of big players are less sure of the outcome of a couple of races per meeting so they cut their turnover right down.
Ryan faced a lesser charge than Cahill, strange when you consider he did the exact same thing, intentionally stopped a horse from winning

The suspension was the first time Ryan has been found guilty of a running and handling charge for more that 15,000 race rides.
Well all that says is the stewards have done an abysmal job policing his rides, then again getting 1 out of around 1-200 isn't too bad I suppose ffs
Surprised they didn't let him off due to his good record

Requires time to ride out the season to maintain chance for jockey premiership
"Ryan holds a narrow lead in the national jockeys’ premiership with 142-1/2 wins, just ahead of Dean Yendall and Victorian riders Brad Rawiller.
His ban is due to start on July 9 and expire on August 20 but he is expected to appeal Thursday’s decision, which could allow him to ride under a stay of proceedings until the matter can be heard."

After many years of punting on NSW races I have given it away due to jockeys like this one. Haven't had a bet on NSW gallops in last 6 months & best decision I've ever made.
Not sure if this is occurring with this particular jockey but I refuse to risk having my back bets matched by an associate or other person acting on behalf of the jockey riding the horse. Until NSW racing authorities clean things up, I'm happy to bet elsewhere.

He certainly seems to have the art of getting beaten worked out IMO....
Many I believe have a problem with this jock cause he just doesnt seem to care or try and hide what appears to be too many seconds etc......that look too consistently "iffy"...IMO
Just a result of betfair .....
Larger turnovers also a product of layers more than backers IMO
I am positive that many have "an associate or other person acting on behalf of the jockey"
IMO OMG EG IE and Ahhhhh!
Personally doesnt really worry me anymore.

SYDNEY, Aug 1 AAP - Leading country NSW jockey Greg Ryan has lost his fight to overturn a lengthy riding suspension.
Racing NSW stewards gave Ryan a six-week ban for his ride on Grey Pariz in a race at Dubbo in June and the Appeal Panel of Racing NSW dismissed his appeal against the suspension.
Ryan was found guilty under an Australian racing rule which deals with a rider giving his mount every chance to finish in the best possible placing in a race.
Ryan's appeal against the severity of the ban has also been dismissed.
Grey Pariz had shown natural speed to lead in three starts but settled at the tail of the field at Dubbo before finishing third - a length from the winner - as the $2.50 favourite.
Ryan, who has been riding on a stay of proceedings, will start his suspension on Tuesday.
He can resume riding on September 16.

Apprentice jockey Claire Nutman copped a pasting from Racing NSW stewards for not riding more vigorously on an $81 shot at Wednesday’s Canterbury meeting.
Nutman saddled up on Opoho in the TAB Place Multi Handicap (1100m) but the Jenny Hoy-trained galloper "couldn’t go a yard” in the early or middle stages of the race.
Stewards quizzed Nutman as to why the horse wouldn’t participate before the jockey’s master Garry Frazer stepped in.
"Why don’t you ask the horse,” Frazer said.
Acting chief steward Marc Van Gestel claimed Nutman didn’t use enough vigour rounding the home turn when Opoho was five to six lengths off the second last horse.
"We’ve seen you use more vigour than that Claire,” Van Gestel said.
"The horse has run fourth and with more vigour should’ve finished closer.”
Nutman said "the only reason he’s run fourth is because the other riders sat up” before Van Gestel let her off with a stern warning.
"In future you must ride your mounts in the most vigorous way possible,” he said.
Frazer questioned what that meant as Nutman had reminded us "you get in trouble if you whip a horse when it’s out the back and has no hope”.
"Hands and heels and plenty of vigour. Not just sitting on it when it is lengths behind,” Van Gestel answered.
IMO --what about looking into the rides of more fancied runners.....

the horse has failed each and every time it came to town .. though at Goul, Cowra & Quean where it has won something like 5 of 13 over 1100 it was always on the pace
the horse was clearly outclassed and having a run for what reason i don't know .. but interesting they called in Frazer who is Nutman's boss and NOT THE TRAINER to ask her wtf she was bringing her 9yo to town again
yes i agree there are far more cases of 'in the market' horses that could be questioned
maybe the stewards are paid on a commission basis for enquiries now

The other riders "sat up?" Isn't that against the rules of racing? Aren't jockeys obligated to ride their mounts to the line? It happens every race, until one of them gets caught on a horse that should've won.....due to stewards' negligence in enforcing the rules.
