Ascot Gold Cup, Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, Diamond Jubilee and Coronation Stakes
ROYAL ASCOT is Flat racing's most prestigious meeting and takes place each year in mid-June. It attracts some of the best horses and jockeys from around the world and is famous for its place in the racing and social calendar.
Each day of the meeting, which this year runs from Tuesday, June 17 until Saturday, June 21, contains at least one feature race, with three prestigious Group 1 contests kickstarting the opening day.
The Queen Anne Stakes, won by Declaration of War last year, starts proceedings on Tuesday.
Next is the King's Stand Stakes - a thrilling 5f sprint recently dominated by overseas raiders, especially from Australia. The final Group 1 on Tuesday is the St James's Palace Stakes which is a traditional target for 2,000 Guineas winners from Britain and Ireland.
Wednesday's feature is the Prince of Wales's Stakes. Along with Saturday's Diamond Jubilee Stakes it is the most valuable race at Royal Ascot, worth £500,000.
The highlight of Royal Ascot is the Gold Cup, run on the Thursday. Staged over 2m4f, the race is the longest Group 1 in Britain and is contested by the best Flat stayers. **** notched four consecutive victories in the race before being retired in October 2009.
Last year Estimate ran to victory, and early betting lists Leading Light as this year's favourite.
Three-year-old fillies take centre stage on Friday in the Coronation Stakes. The race provides the chance for 1,000 Guineas winners from Britain, Ireland and France to clash over Ascot's round mile.
Saturday climaxes with the Diamond Jubilee, a sprint over 6f which sometimes attracts horses who contested Tuesday's King's Stand Stakes. Australian speedball Choisir was the last horse to win both races in 2003.
The remaining 23 races of the royal meeting are made up of lesser Group events and cracking handicaps.
The Queen normally attends every day of Royal Ascot.

I'm tipping you been the night owl will be up with World cup, HK,and Ascot.(Gotta admit i will be) At one stage a few years ago some mob had a bet option on the color of her outfit on day one; the light blues collected. It is a great few days and the only time they pull the Top Hat's down over the head is when John McCririck get's his Wolverine sidey's on screen, should be a market for when he last had a shower. ! |

I will be up for it. World cup doesn't really interest me. As a wise man once said, if I wanted to watch somebody try and score for 90 minutes I would take my mates to the pub. But had a couple of days off, a fcuking shocker today, so will be up grinding away, probably mainly on UK racing.

Tomorrow nite at Shatin First 3 are on the Grass 'C' Course,last 5 on the Dirty Dirt, get this, Track on the grass is still rated as good but the Dirty dirt is Wet Slow. |

What a great finish to this great race.
Leading Light (2.00) fav brilliantly ridden by young Joseph O’Brien (21 years). I say brilliantly cause of the way he held his line when the Queens horse (Estimate) with super jockey Ryan Moore tried to push push and push out from inside him. Moore then had to swing back to the inside and these two with another just drove to the line like their lives were at stake. For a young gun (albeit from a powerful stable ) to hold his line without intimidation from Moore was outstanding!. For a blink I thought there was interference for a protest but it was all fair in love and war with the young jock entitled to hold his line. With 50 or so metres the horse shifted his ground visibly and again the young jockey great skill in switching whip actions .... A Great race to watch the last 200 or so metres |

Correct BJT ...the incident was like one and half strides before the line....thats what made it interesting....betfair ,,,betting 1.19 protest dismissed ...5.5 upheld.....looked an easy 18% profit....the actual interference from rear camera angle was however very very real

Yes ..a lot of heated debate (UK forum on the merits of the protest decision. My opinion was that the protest should have been dismissed. Losing say 3 lengths one or so strides from the line is imo a big consideration. Also (and I dont agree with this criteria ) it seems that the jockey not being at fault also played a part in the dismissal of the protest. I have looked for you tube replay but not there yet to share with others not able to have seen it,,,,,Replays from the night showed different camera angles (made it very interesting). Hope you saw Leading Lights victory.... |

Think I had a trade on the horse in 3rd so I definitely saw it.
My point was simply that there was no vision of a gun shooting the jockey of the horse that came second so it was no chance. I looked at it as a bank job at those odds, but wasn't going to bet 1 cent on those corrupt ****s. |
