Is there anyone that can offer an unbiased opinion on what is the best thoroughbred ratings service in Australia? I have been using racenet ratings on and off for a bit with some success but they don't have a monthly subscription. They charge per meeting which can add up a bit. Does anyone else use ratings and if so who do you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Not my cup of tea at all (ratings) but David Gately seems a good judge and uses "ratings".
I sometimes watch GET ON (only after the races have been run)....knows his onions, imo.
He has a service, not sure it's what you want but spose you could google him and find out.

you have to do advanced probability theory, as part of a psychology degree, to obtain such an edge i believe

Wrong on many levels.
I do my own ratings based on my own research, which involves a working week of at least 50 hours. I don't use anyone else's ratings because it's essential that I know HOW the ratings have been calculated, what factors have been taken into account, so that I can veto a race where I think the ratings are unlikely to give an accurate picture.
If you blindly follow a set of ratings you will probably lose. Ratings are just my way of narrowing a race down to the main chances, so I can then study recent videos of those main chances to sort out the genuine racehorses from the ones who might have been "flattered" by the figures.
The "edge" comes from the fluctuations in the market. I use my rated price to decide what odds I'm prepared to take, and then use the morning line in conjunction with the current toteboard price, to predict whether the Betfair price is likely to lengthen or shorten to give me a guide as to when to place my bet.
I might be a long-haired layabout when it comes to normal employment, but when it comes to the punt I'm definitely not "lazy".
And for the person who started the thread ... sorry, my ratings are definitely NOT for sale.

Ratings or any intense form study is only 30% - 40% of the information you need to keep winning, fitness is the rest

for example its no use having a horse on 98% fit on top in your picks against a 94% fit horse if that horse cant pick its feet up
and PP I was generalizing re ratings 99 out of 100 people use ratings blindly and finish with nought, however as you do them yourself and tweak then you have an edge - if of course you read the races right......

I agree if the horse is no good but fittest, it can still lose, black book it when down in class next start.
Work out your 5-6 best chances on form in a race, then know who are fittest and there is your edge.
Fitness is not in the form guides and horses do not race on the same fitness levels every start.

What you really need Malaz,is a site that rates the rating sites.I just happen to know of such a site.Its called "Rating,the ratings"--set up by a bloke by the name of Rae Rateman .Personally,I dont rate the man,but thats just me.
The Tatts Queensland TAB site have ratings you can easily win with if you bet properly.
Back 2 or 3 horses which are top rated per race ,win only.
I know nearly everyone tries to win backing one horse per race but in 60 years of betting I've never seen anyone consistently win doing it, but there are exceptions to every rule.

Realistically, if you can back the top 3 in the ratings and win, you could back any single of the top 3 and win, backing one horse. If the top 3 all provide value as a whole, then they all provide value as a standalone....
And if they don't, it means 1 of them is holding the other two up, strengthening the argument that backing 1 is more efficient, than backing 3.
I will give you guys the tip

Just because a race is the Melbourne Cup, or Cox plate or Kentucky Derby do no presume that every horse is 100% fit, in fact quite the opposite.
This years Melbourne Cup ratings were the worst for many years and only two horses rated 100% fit and they were Dandino, who just failed to run the 3200 metres and ran 5th and the winner Fiorente at $7.50.
Some were a disgrace and as low as 94% fit and they owners had no hope of collecting after pay out many thousands of dollars in entry fees.
Many horses never even reached 97% fitness in their lead up races and a whole spring was wasted.
I think only once about 10 years ago did I rate 3 horses 100% fit in the one race, the rest two or 1.
I only every see a 100% fit horse about every 500 races or 5,000 ratings.
Most trainers have no idea how to peak a 100% fit horse.
Most horses never race on 100% fit during their lifetime.
I agree as called yesterday live, you CANNOT win on every race, maybe out of 20 races you have 2-3 good chances of winning when fittness is known.
Yesterday saw a new budding champion in Gai Waterhouse Echo Gal, on 98% fit, had 2-3% or lengths in fitness on other runners, magnificant type, top trainer, to jockey, so ticked fitness, trainer, jockey, type boxes and that is huge and won. Price was only $1.60 best, baybe $1.70 but your chances of winner were about 99.99% and only breaking down, could you of lost.

malaz..... its' been given out here plenty of times b4.... check punters choice dot com. The site is possibly in limbo but would still have details of "successful" systems/ratings sellers out there in oz. and my post was only half crazy but i will not use bf as a vehicle for free advertising as jumb.. er jimbo seems to be getting away with. You will notice others who post here also are systems/ratings sellers........ who are also, ethical, in terms of advertising. If you want to buy something you will just have to read between the lines to join with them.
