If Tricky Nicky gets any influence in the Senate there may be some some changes to regulations to internet betting aimed at helping us save our money. Sad

Good morning everyone.

Whiskers, how did you get on in the Iron Man competition?

I didn't know whiskas was an iron man Shocked I have always pictured him as some sort of standover man, the type of character that may bob up in a series of Underbelly.

I think I read Joel that he does the competitions in between his professional punting. I think when he's not making loads on the exchanges he's bench pressing and working on his legs.

I've heard a rumour that he's going to make that legislation retrospective, which means we'll all be in jail the week after next.
Mind you, that's just a rumour ... but so far Abbott has not ruled it out Scared

Hopefully it's one of those issues that gets moved aside and forgotten about. What we need, is for Murdoch to buy Betfair.

kt22 - democracy, gotta love it

Betfair should be pretty safe as long as Crown and Packer have an interest, the government won't want to get them offside

I expect some more nanny state moves by the "Liberal" government though, they are all the same - e.g.

What does change in Govt mean ?-Zero/Zip/Nought/Nothing

Amazed after sooo many years some here still think Santa Clause exists.

In-Play in Oz as is will remain nothing more, maybe something less.

Deal with it.

Rhine
Murdoch only interested if he could get the rights to selling Air or Water(which may happen)
Otherwise not enough in it for him, he has never touched the Gamble revenue.
Probably working on the theory once i get all their Gamble money the wells dried up, that's why he sticks with the everyday addiction of TV revenue !! whereas Jimmy Pack works on the theory more Asians want the punt and there's plenty of'em and they keep turning up, Come in Spinner.

Anyone ever contemplated taking a trip to an in-play friendly nation just to gamble? Pick the right time in the sporting calendar and it could be worth going to NZ. A fella on the golf forum travelled to Canada from the UK to trade with the advantage of faster pics, who dares wins right?

I know Murdoch ain't interested eight ball, it would be a cert if he did buy it though, Abbott owes him.

There used to be a guy from NZ on here who apparently made a killing when the NZ tennis tournament prior to the Australian Open was on. Something like that might be worthwhile as I am sure there would be limited television coverage elsewhere, I would think the 5/8 second delay would be enough to prevent too much sniping on big events though.

I'm overseas at the moment but haven't found anything worth betting on yet.

I don't believe there was much nannying in that report?

quote "Challenged about what action he was taking to counter alcohol-fuelled violence, Mr O'Farrell rejected calls for widespread hotel lockouts, saying he would rely on advice from the police"

so kevin07's idea raising the alcopop tax (more money for labor to waste) really worked well didn't it womble?

As you may recall Whiskers, I used to be a big fan of the "moral crusade". Back in the day I would have suggested campaigning and lobbying and other such pointless activities. Now I prefer to just ignore the small minded beaurocratic gits and do what I want.

Under The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (IGA) it's an offence to offer interactive in-running wagering to Australian residents. That includes live sports betting. However, compliance with the IGA is the responsibility of the gambling operators and not the customer.

So don't worry about it. There will be no knock on the door in the middle of the night, you are not committing any offence if you bet in play. There are plenty of offshore operators who don't give a monkey's about this petty little law, so as Nike would say....just do it !Excited
