This is a pet hate of mine since being stung by Sports Alive........................................ Tom Waterhouse just been sold for $34 million, plus, plus over the next 2-3 years, part of the deal was also $6 million to top up clients accounts, FFS. Here is a bookie in the NT that was using clients deposited funds to run his business, this should not be happening "all clients funds are suppose to be in ringed accounts", this is how Sports Alive left it's clients owed 2,3,4 million? the policing of the bookies in this country is a joke, it also gives a bit of credence that watermouse was close to falling over, and that the rumours that he was completely in over his head with no idea of how to turn a profit in this industry may be close to the truth.
Just like the ACT gaming regulators the NT mob have fallen down on their watch once again, but I suppose now that the big foreign interests own about 80-90% of the bookmakers handle in this country at least we shouldn't have a repeat of the Sports Alive debacle, which of course all interested parties were deemed to have been doing their job correctly and the out come has been that just the poor mug punters are left out of pocket.
The whole bookmaking industry needs a regulation overhaul, but alas there are no votes in doing so....The Sports Alive collapse was a case of disgraceful overseeing by the ACT Gambling & Racing Commission , and The ACT Govt should reimburse customer deposits, but it won't happen...
