All the same it doesn't look good and anyone with half a brain would query why the need for so many injections and the secretive manner in which they administered if they were legal.
I want to beat the bomber on their merits and if we can reproduce and improve upon last weeks effort we will, losing Hurn and Scooter though doesn't help the cause. Its been one step forward and two steps back all year on the injury front for the eagles unfortunately and most have been key injuries. At various stages Naitanui, Waters, McKenzie, Schofield, Wellingham, Kerr, Glass, Embley, Rosa, Butler have all been missing and most of those for extended periods, everyone one of those players is a walk up start, when fit and inform, in the Eagles best 22.

i was surprised essendon was even playing this year and not cleared or punished pre season.

this feels like controlled information coming out at a time agreed by the afl in conjunction with essendon. it was all planned. essendon will get off lightly because jobe watson batting his eyelids on tv will tell everyone its ok there's nothing to see here.

Pokeron compare this to the inquisition the Eagles went through, having self appointed doyens such as Robert Wall's giving his ok on the club's culture after touring the eagles inner sanctum and speaking to all concerned. I'm saying that if Essendon get off with a slap on the wrist as some on here would suggest that's its a joke, I don't have any issue with the players who were clearly deceived about what was happening other than the fact that if your reasonably intelligent you should have seriously questioned why the process was so secretive and why so many injections were required.

I also categorically stated earlier that Jobe Watson should play and that I don't think he should be stripped of the brownlow, so much for my supposed bias AD.

The Eagles were subjected to a witch hunt and the entire clubs name was  dragged through the mud basically for no reason other than several players personal lives were out of control.
Yet Hawthorn's long list of players having problems with drugs and undergoing rehab was covered up and protected by the AFL, double standards anyone. Yet the AFL offered none of the same protection to the Eagles either as a club or to the players.

In your 12:57 post you did not say what you have suggested. You can twist things all you like, this is not about the Eagles who are a disgusting organisation for allowing certain people to engage in criminal acts as they knowingly did. They deserved to be dragged through the mud and to be honest got out scot free for lower than inept management.

We are constantly told that it doesn't matter if you did not know or were told it was ok. You take responsibility as a sportsman for what goes in your body.

As far as I can tell there is no doubt he has admitted to taking a banned substance. He, and other players, are clearly victims as they can be expected to rely on the guidance of doctors/sports meds at the club

Maybe not knowing equals 2 years, knowing/deliberate intent equals a stiffer penalty.

The final outcome, when ever that is will be interesting.

basically, he is feeling guilt, he wants the truth to come out, it's impacting on him and it's a cloud that is hanging over him. so obvious. the mentalist could find a hidden object in a room based on jobe's sh1tty responses. lol. 

the way i see it, he is saying he knew it was a banned substance but all of sudden he took the word of the club doctor who assured him that it was all of a sudden not a banned substance. still sounds dodgy.

i see they are going the angle of 'its not performance enhancing' to take the gloss of the fact that its a banned substance. kind of admitting to a smaller evil to cover up an epic evil. jobe's reputation can survive taking a banned substance that was deemed 'not performance enhancing' but his reputation cannot survive taking a banned substance that is deemed performance enhancing.

jobe is going on the front foot to try and get a lighter sentence instead of the death penalty.

On what we have before us now, i can see no way out for Essendon  -  Guilty as Charged

Given that, Jobe has to loose his medal, Hird has to go, Club doctor has to go, Essendon to lose all premiership points last year, Essendon to lose all premeirship points this year, Essendon the club to be fined 500k +++, and a few more heads to role. The players will come out alright because they cant completely fck the club or the competition.

Why can't we just wait for a change until the relevant authority hands down their verdict, rather than engaging in idle speculation regarding penalty, guilt etc.
I don't think the players themselves are guilty of anything other than being extremely naïve or an extreme lack of common sense as the secretive nature of the operation itself would have raised a lot of question in most peoples minds, however it was the club not the players or elements within the club that initiated this program, the club's complicity in this is an entirely different story.

I don't think Jobe should necessarily be stripped of his brownlow unless the relevant authority deems that he should be i.e.WADA and he and others should certainly be able to play until the final decision is handed  down on this.

It will all sort itself out in the end and quite frankly I'm sick of hearing about the same gossip and speculation being continually regurgitated by the media.

If elements at the club are found to have endangered the players in any way shape or form by treating them with substances that are potentially damaging to their health then I think they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law as that is disgraceful and I consider that far more damaging to the game than any potential gain by cheating, as you just don't endanger anyone's health to win a game of footy.

Finally just for AD's benefit, I want the Eagles to beat the bombers on their merits tomorrow night.
