Well again this time of the year.
People will say im pretty harsh.
Carlton will never get anywere with the list they have and they need Major help.
They can look like Millionaires then turn it up like Cats and i don’t mean Cats Football players.
Wont make the 8 and don’t deserve to.
Major Changes needed at end year, Go Hard for some players that can kick and not scared

Andrew Walker.    Saved his career, playing good football. 8/10
Troy Menzel.        Not Given much of a chance yet. Cant score
Marc Murphy        Not Damaging, Just does his job. No Standout. 6/10
Bryce Gibbs        Most Softest Players going around. Its time to Trade while he is valuable. So Silky and uses ball well 7/10 ONLY due to way he uses it
Chris Judd        On his last legs but still carrying players, hasn’t got the zip and finishing off anymore but probably in from of B&F 9/10
Kade Simson        Same as Gibbs, Does not like it hard. 5/10
Dylan Buckly        Looks the goods but not given a Chance yet. Cant Score
Matthew Kreuzer    Just like Kosi for Saints, Might go down as Most Overrated number 1, also used to be a Goal Kicker and never missed, what has happened? 4/10
Kane Lucas        New Whipping Boy now Russel an Thornton gone. Needs to Improve Disposable. Just needs more Games 6/10
Matthew Watson    Hasnt played a game yet. Dont know if will
Robert Warnock    Has shown he is No 1 Ruckman. Just please stay Fit 7/10
Mitch Roinson        Has a Crack but im scared when he has the ball. Has had some good games and some shockers 5/10
Chris Yarren        Silky Smooth, Cost us 2 games. Could be a Superstar but don’t think he wants to. 5/10
Brock McLean        Made look good the way Carlton are going. Would have to say Slowest player going around in the AFL, Cant kick. Very lucky to wear a Navy Blue Jumper 6/10
Jeremy Laidler        Cant get a look in. I think a better team in Defence with him. Mystery why he is not playing.
Sam Rowe        Its either him or Cashbolt but neither up to AFL Standard. Great Story but needs to Improve a lot. 4/10
Eddie Betts        Please Trade next year while can get something for him. Likes easy games and does go missing. Out of all 3 small forwards he is 3rd. 4/10
Josh Bootsma        Showing talent, just needs a cuple more years of evelopement. Has a real Crack and not scared. Really like to see how goes in future
Shaun Hampson    Please Trade, We might get something for him. He has more on his mind and its not football. 2/10
Lachie Henderson    Please Mick he is a Forward. Having a great year. 8/10
Dennis Armfeild    Very quick player, finishing off not the best. Will get a game every week. But would he get a game with Swans? 6/10
Heath Scotland        Hard nut, Old style footballer, wish we had more of him. Not as damaging this year due to suspension for nothing to do with Football. 6/10
Jarrad Waite        Imagine Him and Fev together. He also is great in Backline. When Carlton were up by 30 and the run was coming i would of swung him down back as loose man. Never drops a mark 9/10 (When he has played)
Marcus Davies        In and out, struggling to hold spot. 4/10
Nick Duigan        Cant get a Game,
Jeff Garlett        Has some good games and some bad games. Needs to put 100% every game 6/10
Mick Jamison        Playing his heart out and Injured, Scarey when has the ball. Players don’t kick many on him. Big test is against Buddy 8/10
Levi Cashbolt        Looks like Tarzan, Marks like Plugger, just cant play. Please take back to Crown and tie up. 2/10
Zach Tuohy        Has a Real hard Crack and getting better. 6/10
Simon White        Showing Promise, Could of won the game for Carl against Ess. 5/10
Andrew Carrazzo    Relly missing his tagging Role would of stopped Heppell. Possible has 1-2 years left. 6/10
Aaron Joseph        Pretty lucky hasn’t played, but if i had my pick Mclean or Joseph. Id pick Joseph 2/10
David Ellard        When does play, don’t even notice 2/10
Jaryd Cachia        Showing Promiss but no star. 5/10

Mick Malthouse 5/10    The List is not Pies. We had the game won and you were to Big headed to drop a man back when the run was on. Need a Big Clean out and Re build with some of the talent we have. Go big on Trade and some of those No1s Trade while have Currency.

Guys not getting a Game
Curnow, Dale, Bell all look ok.

Gee Lloydy you have a bug up your arrse about Mclean who's been fantastic for your club and very consistent, without his ball winning ability you would have been blown away in a number of games. Also fevola is long gone and your club is so much the better for his departure, get the fark over it and move on. Betts is massively overrated and waste of space yes he can play when things go his way, not the type you want in the trenches with you when the chips are down though as likely to go AWOL. Agree with you on Laidler can't understand why he's in the doghouse, his form last year when fit and firing was very good. How Tom Bell is not getting played is a mystery he has be given a chance to develop, the kid can play.

Lets i dont accept 2nd Rate.
Its been 14 years since last in a GF and 18 since we won one.
Had out Home game ground taken away make a loss playing at Etihad but Princess Park make 300k a game.
Carl have been rebuilding but not improved since Dennis Pagan took over. And to this day he was made a scape goat.

With Mclean he would not get a game for another club. Is to slow, cant kick over 30mt, cant hit a target against bottom sides he is made to look good. Was embarrassing watching him against Bombers. He was ran off at all times. Have you ever wondered why every game he is by himself? its because he is not damaging and teams are happy for him to have the ball as Big chance will turn it over. We also lost a Number 1 pick for him. Try find a Highlight reel on him. Also would he make WCoast Midfield? No. 1 Player i love watching for WC is Kerr. Superstar and in the end of his Career. We dont have 1 of him. He also made Judd.

Carltons Recruitment has been terrible last 20 years, always go for quick fix and not worry about future.
We started to build an exciting team around Fev so what do we do, Trade Kennedy + 3 picks for Judd, Set us back another 2 years. Judd has been great for Himself at Carlton and will retire Comfortable.
Would not Surprise me if they go for Buddy and offer him the world and stuff up the next 5 years for Development.

Carlton at moment have Under performed players that accept 2nd best.
They also play for them selves not as a Team
I said last year next 5 years are going to be long years unless something is done.
Yes they will win against the weak and take some big scalps. Dont be surprised they beat Hawks this week, ill be there and Supporting Carlton and i just booked my ticket to watch them against Gold Coast.
Thats a team they should be trying to lure players from.

Id Rather Carlton Do a Big Clean out Draft unknown players, build a Side around a CHF and a CHB or the next 10 years will be 2nd rate and Tease everybody.

Swans are Morals for the Flag and will be Hawks vs Swans
Carl will batle for 8th spot with Rich, and Wcoast and will be out 1st week

Players i think should be traded while can get something
Gibbs, Betts, Kruiser, Simson, Watson, Hampson, Cashbolt

I kept sticking up for Gibbs for years but have now seen what everybody telling me.

BTW in Soccer im on Over 2 1/2 Goals at Evens for $500 but $250 of its a Free Bet.

Dont need comments you rate what Carltons list for this year
Report Lets Elope June 11, 2013 11:42 AM BST
Like I said have never rated Gibbs and never will, can play ok but doesn't live up the ridiculous wraps that were put on him. I stated categorically this time last year when garlett yarran and co. all ran out in yellow or green boots that this lot was that far ahead of themselves that it wasn't funny and I launched into the saints against them and was proven correct and nothing's changed. You have a lot of very selfish players bell, bootsma, Watson all should be getting games, don't be knocking Judd his recruitment and presence has saved your club from oblivion and total irrelevance but I said at the time and have steadfastly maintained that his recruitment alone would not win you a premiership and  it seems like I will be proven correct. Great player and been a great servant for both your club and mine. casbolt needs time, don't sack him the way you sacked Jacobs, thought he showed a fair bit last year, big men take time, you have to remember that Dean Cox was a rookie list player eagles gave him the time to build into his frame and develop his game. The way pagan was treated and your club legend ratten was disgraceful whether he could coach or not you don't treat doyens of your club in that manner. Voss lost me in exactly the same way and I would suggest a fair few of his players when he dumped Daniel bradshaw, a true warrior and the heart and soul of a club like Brisbane, for that loser and oxygen thief Fevola.

Will make a nice Profitable night.
Cashbolt has been around 4 years and Jacobs wanted to go. Carlton tried to retain him but had to give or would of got Nothing. Was not Sacked. Highly rated player at Carlton Jacobs was.
And Pagan was Crucified.
It was Brown that wanted Fev at all cost also if Fev stayed sound would of been a great trade as Bradshaw was gone
Report Lets Elope June 11, 2013 12:31 PM BST
You don't trade the Daniel Bradshaw's of the world who would die for your club for the fevola's it's as simple as that.  Voss lost heaps of his senior players when he did that.

been pretty crook so haven't attended this year and watching on tv doesn't really enable to see what a player is doing away from the immediate action.
nevertheless here's my 2 bob's worth.
Llyody is spot on re list managemant and the need for a significant rebuild. The list is jammed with 2nd rate midfielders and talls who don't produse on a regular basis.
Need to trade/delist  the following..Trade Warnock and or Hampson,Gibbs,Betts or Yarran(sook),delist Kurnow,Joseph,Rowe,Bell,Watson amongst others.

Thomas is coming, need to pursue the no 1 pick (Jesse Hogan)by trading good players to get the pick.Hogan will be a gun 200 game fwd(josh Kennedy??)

Have a crack at the Bulldogs for Griffin.....we must get very very proactive at trade time.

The biggest problem with a re-build is that we could identify half our list as ready to be let go for whatever reason, but realistically you can only change about 8 faces every 12 months, hence the need for an extended plan...not a Judd like quick fix that ends up costing you more than it is worth.

Will MM want to rebuild in his last coaching stint?? I find it unlikely as his ego demands he attempts to win NOW,so long term I reckon we are in deep mire.

The biggest question is who can we build on for the future as many of our best players are on their last legs age wise(waite, judd, scotland)etc.

Do we have a youbg player to get genuinely excited about, lika a Wines or  A Vlastin....perhaps only Menzel.

As a Blues fan, I agree with most of Lloydy's assessment. Bottom line is the list is not good nor deep enough. My personal view is that Ratten did a very good job and Malthouse now the same with what they have to work with.

The Blues are a great example of how hard it is to climb from the bottom.

After the Brittain and at the end of the Pagan era, the Blues were at rock bottom. We were in a very sick situation, even Melbourne like. Personally, I feel it will take at least another decade or two to overcome.

The reason the early 2000 years were so bad was because of the Blues pathetic use of the National Draft from mid to late 90's. The cherry on top was the loss of picks due to the salary cap fiasco. The rot had started well before then. Pathetic use of draft was trumped by the walkout of Aaron Hammil.

1999 we had no picks in first three rounds of National draft. We traded pick 31 to the Cats & got Michael Mansfield at the ar$e end of his career in return. Cats picked up Paul Chapman with that pick and were on the way to setting the foundation that lasts to this day.

2000 we got pick 4 as part of the Hammil deal. It used on Luke Livingston. Pick 11 was wasted on Trent Sporn. Pick 15 went to a workman called Simon Wiggins. That was 3 first round picks pi$$ed away

2001 & 2002 we had no picks in first two rounds. Kade Simpson as a 3rd round pick was only joy.

So at this point, the Blues basically took no part for 4 years in the draft. This was suicide and we are still paying the price to this day.  Once the stars of the late 90's retired & Kouta's knee blew out, the Blues were a ticking time bomb.

2003 we got Andrew Walker @ pick 2. Nick Stevens arrived from Port via Pre Season draft and Andrew Carazzo was a Rookie pick.

2004 Pick 9 was wasted on Jordan Russell. Pick 25 went to Adam Hartlett. Another stellar  example of using the National Draft ......Not !!

So at this point, 2003 aside, 5 out of 6 years bought next to zero talent to the club via the National Draft. No club can cope with that !

It wasn't really until 2005 that we were able to use the National Draft effectively. Thats when Murphy and Josh Kennedy arrived. The problem was, there was no foundation.

Gibbs arrived in 2006. Kruezer 2007 & Yarran 2008. Juddy also arrived in this period at the expense of Kennedy.

Murphy & Gibbs cop plenty but you put any youngster into the disaster that was the Blues at that stage of there career and I bet they would do no better. Look at poor Trengrove, Grimes & Watts now.

Unfortunately, from 2009 to 2013, we have had next to no impact again in the National Draft to support the good yields from 2005 to 2008.

So now in 2013 the Blues are still chasing their tails and now Juddy is at the end. Gibbs & Murphy will get no better and we have very little coming through to replace them. I just hope history doesn't repeat nut fear it will.

When Judd arrived, the Blues were very crook. I still recall that thumping Brisbane gave us prior to Pagan's sacking. J.Brown had a feast that day.

What Judd was able to do was instill 'faith' plus speed the development of the players around him like Murphy, Carzzao, Simpson and co as Judd copped the attention in the middle. The irony was we lost a future 10 + year star in Kennedy.

Without Judd and his influence, the Blues would not of been able to have that 'spike' under Ratten nor would have played finals as quickly. There were many a game in his first few years where Juddy's influence was the difference. Problem is, when you play finals, Draft picks don't come early.

I agree, the Blues should have kept Kennedy. That was a time for patience with a 10 year view. Judd was never going to be part of any Blues era of sustained success. Those first few years under Ratten would have been much the same as under Pagan. Finals probably wouldn't of happened BUT we would have got earlier Draft Picks and build upon the foundation of Walker, Murphy, Gibbs, Kennedy, Kruezer, Carazzo, Simpson and co.

2008 we picked up Yarran as pick 6 after finishing 11th. That position would have been much lower without Judd and who knows, Nic Nat, Stephen Hill or Michael Hurley could be in Navy Blue today.

2009 we made finals in 7th on the back of Judd. Instead of getting Kane Lucas at pick 12, Dustin Martin or Ben Cunnington may have been at Visy ?

2010 finals again and we pick Matthew Watson. Without Judd, this would have been the year where you could see the club really going places. Dyson Heppel  or Shaun Atley could be ours.

2011 finals in 5th and we won our first final. As the reward, Josh Bootsma arrived when by allowing nature to run its course, the now emerging team of youngsters may have finished just outside the 8. This could have yielded Brandon Ellis or Clay Smith.

So, whilst Judd helped speed some development, instill some faith and get us into finals quicker than we should have, the Blues have paid a massive price and one that will haunt for many a year.

One bloke has overseen and endorsed all of I have written from late 90's to today, yet remains untouchable. He is no doubt a cracking bloke, awesome clubman, a legend of the game BUT FFS Sticks Kernahan; what were you thinking along the journey ????
Report Lets Elope June 22, 2013 6:24 AM BST
carlton are still deluded  enough to think they can buy themselves a premiership and yet again went for the quick fix. Judd was very much needed as the club was on it knees and  has been a terrific servant but as I said at the time he would never win them a premiership on his own t, the support cast just wasn't good enough.
No use moaning about losing Kennedy, the eagles were never  going to take any of players that were offered (they were an insult to the eagles coaching and recuiting staff's intelligence)and you were desperate for Judd and Judd admirably wanted to ensure the Eagles got a decent deal so Kennedy was always coming here once Judd had his heart set on the BLues, the eagles only wanted one player at Carlton along with the first round pick for Judd and that was always Kennedy.

Just because carlton have that mentality it doesn't mean every club does. Wht are the AFL upposed to do,let new teams flounder, get serious, they're trying to break into  new market and you expect themet no help. I agree with you about a fair and equitable schedule h and every side has to travel an equal amount and not get a walk up start every year i.e.Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon etc. No other elite sporting competition in the world has an inequitable amount of travel yet the AFL does and think its ok.
It's a home game if you don't have to travel out of your own city as you don't suffer from the cumulative effect of continual travel throughout the season and it's a massive advantage to not have to jump on a plane every second week. Bite the bullet and eliminate the continually struggling Melbourne sides and the competition will be all the better for it.

Report Lets Elope June 25, 2013 5:38 AM BST
Can't cull them we're a massive cash cow for the afl helping support the WAFL which produces an untold number of players each year for the afl, of course no need for the afl to dig into their own pockets and support a feeder competition like that now is there. We as members are charged for a premium membership 600 bucks a season, it's the most expensive club membership in the AFL to sit in a stadium whose infrastructure is falling apart. No our money is needed to pay for the WAFl and competent clubs like Melbourne and the Dogs so they can sack coaches and pay out coaches, what a farking joke.

After all why would the AFL want to guarantee the health of important feeder competitions like the WAFL and the SANFL and the junior competitions below them when they can waste zillions on GWS.

But no surprise there really, the VFl was on it knees until the Eagles were charged exorbitant ransom like licence fees to enter the competition which almost sent the club to the wall and this allowed a number of VFL clubs on the verge of total collapse to survive.

I also think Malthouse is doing a great job. Take out Friday night, the Blues have been more than competitive with a very average team. Only good coaches can achieve that.
Report Lets Elope July 7, 2013 5:46 AM BST
Agree Malthouse has done a terrific job and is trying to change the manner in which they play and his laying down the law to Yarran can only make him a better player if  he's man enough to face up to the fact that he could be great player if he's works hard enough, which clearly he doesn't.

Your over reliance on an injury prone 30 year old undisciplined should've been star in Waite is truly frightening, when he goes down you seem to have zero marking targets.
