Isn't it the handicap?
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:18 AM BST
yes
Report Joel June 3, 2013 7:20 AM BST
So what is the point of the question?
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:22 AM BST
good question
Report Joel June 3, 2013 7:22 AM BST
And the answer?
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:22 AM BST
betfair told me it is the same as the 'total runs' market
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:23 AM BST
All bets on 'Total runs' or 'Run line' markets will be void unless there has been at least 9 innings completed (8 1/2 if the home team is ahead) except those on market which have been unconditionally determined.

Joel
Think you might have found a Prof J.Moriarty.
Report eight ball June 3, 2013 7:26 AM BST
However it is a sneaky little proviso, that sometimes gives a nicer value , the conditions though don't warrant the 'extra'.

bit the same as All-In before close of acceptances, could do your money without batter batter batter making a swing.
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:28 AM BST
why would it be all bets 'total runs' or 'run line' markets
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:29 AM BST
if they were the same market, it would just say market
Report eight ball June 3, 2013 7:32 AM BST
I would call them but i suggest they might be 'clueless' unless you get someone who is chewing tobacco and knows the sport.
Report Back High Lay Low June 3, 2013 7:35 AM BST
They're two different markets but the same rule applies to them
Report eight ball June 3, 2013 7:40 AM BST
BTW(have taken a sniff of NY & Red Sox in the World Series)
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:41 AM BST
'run line' always means -1.5/+1.5 handicap.
betfair telling me 'run line' market is the same market as the 'totals' market
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:50 AM BST
todays bos@nyy only went 6 innings
betfair settled the -1.5/+1.5(run line) market
and voided the 'total runs' market
Report Joel June 3, 2013 7:52 AM BST
Was it unconditionally determined?
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:52 AM BST
baseball rules:

All bets on 'Total runs' or 'Run line' markets will be void unless there has been at least 9 innings completed (8 1/2 if the home team is ahead) except those on market which have been unconditionally determined.
Report Joel June 3, 2013 7:54 AM BST
Seems like they have messed up.....
Report nugget June 3, 2013 7:57 AM BST
and they've unconditionally determined to settle one market and void the other
when both markets are subject to the same rule

! not ? above

and to say to me
"your -1.5/+1.5 bet is not a 'run line' bet, a 'run line' bet is just another name for 'total runs'"
is annoying

the -1.5/+1.5 is the 'run line' market referred to in the rules and should be voided if the game doesn't go 9 innings

May be annoying but it is accurate.

If somebody asked me whats the run line bet in baseball, i woulda thought the answer was o/u 7,o/u 8, o/u 9 total runs in the game (or whatever the lucky number for the day is)............Im never going to say its plus or minus 1.5 runs........thats the handicap.  It's kinda obvious.
Report nugget June 4, 2013 3:49 AM BST
everyone who bets on baseball knows what the 'run line' is
google baseball run line ffs
nice try though
Report nugget June 4, 2013 4:10 AM BST
its kinda obvious you dont know what you're talking about
Report powerfan June 4, 2013 4:42 AM BST
Change BASEBALL to BASKETBALL............both games have a line bet and both games have a totals bet............Now just go over it in your head and try and convince yourself that what you are saying is not silly.
Report powerfan June 4, 2013 4:43 AM BST
upon reflection..............you may need a pen and paper
Report nugget June 4, 2013 4:56 AM BST
the spread/handicap in baseball is called the 'run line', its 1.5 every time.
Report nugget June 4, 2013 5:00 AM BST
betfair should of voided bets on the 'run line' market on mondays bos@nyy game

All bets on 'Total runs' or 'Run line' markets will be void unless there has been at least 9 innings completed (8 1/2 if the home team is ahead) except those on market which have been unconditionally determined.
Report Joel June 4, 2013 5:06 AM BST
Did you email them? When you call you'll get someone in Australia I guess who doesn't know the rules....at least if you email you might get someone in the UK who might be more clued up.
Report nugget June 4, 2013 5:18 AM BST
the operator was only going off what he was told, he did put me on hold and talk to someone else
Report Joel June 4, 2013 5:20 AM BST
On the markets for tomorrows games it doesn't say Runline anywhere...it just has handicaps?
Report nugget June 4, 2013 5:33 AM BST
its in the betfair rules though

All bets on 'Total runs' or 'Run line' markets will be void unless there has been at least 9 innings completed (8 1/2 if the home team is ahead) except those on market which have been unconditionally determined.

and by saying "'total runs' or 'run line' markets" would indicate to me they're referring to 2 separate markets.
so what is the 'run line' refer to? google 'baseball run line'

betfair agrees now, got this late last night (6-8 hours after market settled). someone must have already emailed them.

One or more of your bets, placed on the market has been voided/lapsed by Betfair. Whilst these bets were all placed in good faith, in order to be fair to all users we have had to void/lapse them.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience, and we hope you continue to use and enjoy the site.

Kind regards

You don't know how to google it huh?

First result,

The run line is essentially a combination of the point spread and the money line rolled into one

How do you get TOTAL RUNS SCORED out of that?
Report powerfan June 4, 2013 8:19 AM BST
oopsie...............that's wrong!!

The answer is obvious i just presumed it was mine lol........I do owe you an apology so I apologize for my error about your googling ability.

If you asked me the run line on the Yankees and Indians game tomorrow i'd be telling you 9 not 1.5

and I'd rather back the Indians at the moneyline.
