Gentlemen - can any of you advise difficulties of getting a cab from Melton back to Caroline Springs. And for that matter from Hotel at Caroline Springs to Melton?
Any hints or advice appreciated. Cheers.

the best go would be get on the google hire a car from AVIS small car $60
FROM caroline springs pick up 11 am return next day 11 am .
TAXIS  are always late in c springs/melton areas and are un reliable...
our forum friend LLYODY LIVES IN MELTON  booked a taxi for melton victoria cup night still waiting after the first race was run
hiring a car would be similar price from CAROLINE SPRINGS  as for taxi price....have a tip for you on hunter cup night  YANKEE ROCKSTAR in 2yo
good luck what ever you do
ps yu may get a car CHEAPER  in caroline springs

go to charlton, trucks just crash into fences, whilst your 500k colt is warming up.

$30k race and the the water truck driver crashes.

No knock on him at all - but don't be seduced by Charlton times. Ordinary horses run fast times there.

That said, winner is developing into a very serious horse. Well done guys

Smolda vs Restrepo would be tasty right now

Very Inpressive today restrepo and still learning.
Riverlea Jack is back but with Manners.

Mister 10 Taxi should be about $40 one way.
You wont have trouble getting home and no need to Pre Book as you might party on and stay till late.
Taxi number is 1800 246806 (local in Melton)as soon as you say it a Out of Towner they are there in a Flash
Think its 13CABS from Caroline Springs.

Best Bet for Hunter Cup whatever Crackers Lays.

But Every year i have never lost the Punters Club. Tote Puts in 5k they always seem to Double it Vic cup its was $87 to $20
I buy $200 worth everytime.
I have a mate who will only go when they run Punters Clup.
Doesnt even know a horses name.
Just lines up to collect

You could possibly steal a car from the carpark and drive to Caroline Springs in a drunken state. You would nearly be considered a local then

great pub in Caroline springs on the water.
Punt all day there for gallops then off to the trots, make sure you eat before you go.
Food at Melton is Terrible.
Its only good Trial night when the Rotary Club sell Hamburgers and Sausages in bread.

Hadn't been to the Melb trots in 20 years Elsu. Highlight was the short dressed lovelies handing out the racebooks at the entrance. Worth the entrance price alone Wink. Was shocked to find only three bookies in the 'ring' plus two outside. Nice set up - track facilities etc - but why did they set up shop (and hock themselves no doubt) way out there? Not sure of the politics behind the decision, but wouldn't have Cranbourne be the obvious place to go (I presume they were forced out of the Valley?) I don't know what went on there but would be interested in some opinions.

Mister 10,
Im Confused a bit as well and i live in Melton.
Its in the right area as Most trainers live around the area and easy to get to. Close to Airport

What i cant understand is Friday night racing.
If you come from City its a Nightmare and you dont get there till 7pm if you finish work at 5pm and its allready up to R5
They set the Joint up worng from the start then realised and built another area to watch the horses parade.
Grandstand is a Joke
Spent a stack at Cranbourne after they built Melton on a Training Centre. They have heaps of land and a Middle part of the track that is unused. Cranbourne is furthur than Melton and is more of a step backwoods
Should of set up Training Complex at Melton.
Staff work at a Rented Building in Moonee Ponds, Costs a fortune a year to rent, they have a headquaters at Melton Empty every day of the week. Why not work out of it and safe a fortune.
Food is terrible and overpriced.
If you go to the Local Pub Macs Meals are spot on and half the price, its full every night. Trots is empty every night and restaurant is lucky to serve a meal except race night.

If i was Running Melton Harness Complex it would be making a Fortune but they pay Peanuts.
I could Cut so many Costs but make more by looking outside the Circle for other areas of Revenue

Lloydy
