Quite possibly mate. Avoid a late drifter on here like the plague.

hairy question.
how many degrees of separation from an umpire do you have to be to be able to bet on footy?

the umpire's niece? nephew? nephew's friend?

serious question.

Struggling to find a bet I like. Last year was easy, laid the Judd/Goodes quinella, can't remember the exact price but it was very small around 2.4ish from memory. The second I saw it I clicked the pink, nothing jumping out as such this year.
Report Kye September 24, 2012 8:47 AM BST
You have to think like a mag got.

I like to back the favorite from last year that didnt win. I think that would be Ablett. The umps would have it their thoughts that we didnt give him votes last year when we should have so we will give him votes this year when he doesnt deserve it. Works a bit like their silly even up free kicks.

typical umpires, watson isn't fit to tie abletts shoes. Looks hard from here now. The only thing I did wrong was not lay cotchin I should have layed him as well as knew delrdio and co would pinch plenty of votes off him. Well done if you backed watson you've committed highway robbery  because no way did he have a better season than ablett but well done anyway.
Report therhino September 24, 2012 1:27 PM BST
Well done Jobe, won't lose from here. Surely not the best player of the 2012 season though.
Report VeryLTU September 24, 2012 1:28 PM BST
yep, he looked hopeless when in his first year. He has really worked hard on most aspects of his game.... kicking was atrocious, fitness wasn't up to par, reactions were pedestrian etc. etc....... very very well done jobe !!!

My best mate's an Essendon supporter so seen quite a bit of Jobe this year. I don't think you guys are giving him due credit.
Not as good as Gazza, but a deserving winner nonetheless.
Report Aussie Driver September 24, 2012 1:32 PM BST
Hard to aftertime and still get it wrong one would think?

Don't think anyone should have an issue with Jobe winning it
Report Lets Elope September 24, 2012 1:33 PM BST
Not at all nick I just hate to see the wrong player win, Ablett wins the vote from his peers by a street yet the unmpiure can't see he's had a vastly superior season to Watson a very good player but one who isn't in the same postcode as far as ability when compared to Ablett.
Report therhino September 24, 2012 1:35 PM BST
Jobe benefits from playing in a team with no stand out players. Had a great year, but not the best player.

Report Winker September 24, 2012 1:55 PM BST
Anyone who backed Gazza for the top 5 must be filthy when he was swamped in the last round by everyone. I had him over 26.5 votes, looked a winner all night. Having said that I also had Mitchell over 25.5, looked a loser all night. Swings and roundabouts. Jobe a worthy winner.
Report CrazySnake September 24, 2012 1:57 PM BST
Please don't make any more points, for the love of God.

Jobe won, he deserved to win. Our game isnt always about the absolute best and many great players have not one because they were not in winning teams.
Jobe is the first player in a while to win from a team that didnt make the finals. I think that speaks volumes for how good he is.

Nuff said!
Report CrazySnake September 24, 2012 1:58 PM BST
Not WON that should have read.
Report Lets Elope September 24, 2012 2:31 PM BST
Knew what you were talking about snake, that's two though that little gazza has been robbed of, for fark sake he hasn't even finished second.

Umpires probably didn't even know who dangerfield was in the first half of the season, shouldn't have come as a surprise though the brownlow result given the standard of umpiring this season.
There were a couple of players who polled well to keep an eye on for the future if they have big years next year as they will definitely have more "umpire" recognition.

How you going now AD with the Hawks supposedly going to have been unbackable favourites, not only are they going to be backable, they're definitely vulnerable.
Report CrazySnake September 24, 2012 2:38 PM BST
If they gave it to the best player in the game Gazza would win it every year.
My last post in this thread. He was in a side that won 3 games and were belted from pillar to post and he still polled 3 votes in many of those games.
I don't really know what you want them to do. I think they were more than fair to him.
I knew the risks when I backed him. In hindsight it was a stupid bet. The odds were heavily stacked against him, and it has always been that way for a good reason.
Paul Kelly won a Brownlow in a side that finished last (I think?) But that was before the medal was truly a midfielder's medal as it is today.
Pies beat GC by 100 points, Swan or Pendles or Beams gets 35 touches and you want Gazza to get the 3? Just isn't going to happen much of the time and it happened more often that it would with any other player.

Anyway, I am delighted Jobe won. Very likable and classy young man. A credit to his club and his name.
Report Lets Elope September 24, 2012 2:45 PM BST
Not saying he's not Snake just that yet again the Brownlow doesn't reflect the player who had the best season as I also said several weeks ago now and given it is the elite award just think that's wrong, betting tonight was only a bit of fun as would have loved to see ablett win as unbelievably he's elevated himself to another level again at the suns.

Suns might improve a bit next season if ablett kicking it lace out to tippett.

$500 on Watson Layed 2 points under.
Then Layed again at Evens.
Easy $480 Jumps in.
