such as staying up on your computer until 4am ??

Never mind that carry on secondcoming, we are having a fantastic olympics while you are having a poor one. It happens. Now the big question is, what the fook are the Warriors playing at, 20-0 down to the sharks at home PS you won't have to live with being 2nd best as you are about 30th best at the mo. Sorry mate, couldn't resist

How empty does your life have to be?

Jeez, some of you Aussies have a severe inferiority complex. Please calm down there is no need for hostility. Thank you for reading.

Do you blame us, we have one thread in here for this Olympic stuff yet we get you bunch of retards coming in here starting thread after thread because you are all to stupid to find the create thread button.

You only have to look at the crap that gets posted on the UK racing forum to see what the British intelligence is like.

Inferiority complex = the English, you only have to look at the forum to know

guys guys enough already , their will be a boat along soon

Still living with Thatcher's legacy as there was massive underfunding (or rather no funding) in sport from 80's onwards as a result of her policies (while your gov was establishing academies etc)explains the poor showing from then and btw - Aussie still beaten by NZ on medal/pop ratio ........

We consider kiwis our mates so that's all good

Yeah but do they consider you as theirs? Basically (as a way of explaining the behaviour of some of my cointrymen) we have won feck all for so long (Rugby world cup aside!) that it makes a change to be considered the worlds best and go into competitions expecting to win. You've always been our main sporting rivals in many things (and historically have given as good as you get in the 'banter' stakes)) which combined with the fact you're having a shyte Olympics (so far) makes some people get giddy. Give it time - we'll def find a way to feck things up soon........

I don't consider Kiwis mates at all. They've won the Bledisloe Cup for the last 10 years I hate 'em!!

Looks a lovely summers day today

I have a sueriority complex.

but I deserve it

I think any right minded Brit will accept the aussies are, and long term will always be better at sport ,after saying that Australia is a very sports minded country so you would sort of expect it . Plus you benefit from more daylight ,better weather for the most part and better funding .  -
A similar thing can be seen in England where football and Rugby league are prominent in the north while Tennis and Union has it's followers in the south ,each would thrash the hell out of each other in the respective sports/codes .
Anyway  just glad we are doing well  on home turf- could have been an embarrassment -  cyclists and rowers are really giving it their all and more .
It is looking better for the future though .

AUSSIES think they're superior, step into my class for a spelling lesson.

Secondcoming in seething rage shocker.  Bet his keyboard is covered in spat feathers.  Lose gracefully FFs.

If you look up meltdown in a dictionary you will find secondcomingsl opening post.

Thanks rob_dylan, I looked it up, but I found this thread from Chit Chat "Andy Murray Grand Slam count".  How can that be?

Oi, FlagonBoy , hope you're not being swept up in these turgid waters

Beneath you

Leave it to the Aussie forum's bedraggled infantry , I say

Any more pearls from Leunig?

Hi there TINS, thanks for the support on the other thread in regards to "what's his name".

Leunig...I've read the whole book now a few times but most of the stuff is a bit of an acquired taste, if you know what I mean.  I will put some more on here despite that though.

Tonight might be a very good night, Del Potro in straight sets against Djokovic was Gold for me and if (IF) Murray manages to do the same I might win Gold twice.

Barracked for him at Wimbledon

Can't quite cheer him on this time though, another one for the Scottish medal tally

Goodonya though, a silver lining

oops, British

Np on the other point, thoughtless rather than personal I'd guess.

As for Leunig, hmmmm....just use your own filter I suppose

That guy has an anger problem, anyone who contradicts or questions him has abuse hurled at them.  He took offence at me criticising the government for placing small business owners under pressure because of unannounced policy changes.  Well he must have taken my comments directed at the govenrnment as some sort of perosnal jibe, becuase he started attacking me personally.  I just fobbed it off by complimenting him so he thought he had won the arguement (I find it's best when dealing with the less endowed).

anyway................

I have enjoyed watching some of the wieghtlifting during this week, markets are no good for betting but still interesting to watch.  Tonight is the 75kg+ Womens weightlifting but the "+" has to be taken into account.  The other weight groups have a maximum weight so the athletes are careful not to have excess body weight.  This division does not have that limitation so the competitors are, how can I put this, unrestricted.

hmmm, interesting strategy. I never have any "disputes" on here  so no need to devise any such clever strategies

anyway........

I have also enjoyed watching some of the weightlifting during this week, days ago though.

So it's a free-flab-fest now then. I shall watch.

Loved the equestrian events, horsies so fine....

There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.  ~Winston Churchill

Geeeeeee willakers! Those girls must be reeeeeally pleased with the 75PLUS description

Bit like me feelin sharp as I was wheeled into an "over 28's" club

Very good TINS, have'nt read that Churchill quote before, I quite like it.

Yeah, I can certainly relate.

Might put it where it belongs

Boy, hate to see the Samoan's husband weigh in light when handin over his pay-packet

Good luck on the punt

All the best mate, off to watch a Tarantino movie....catch you on the flip side.

I looked it up, I found a picture of your gimp head after I took to it with a flame thrower.

hth

You're not taking this very well are you secondcoming.  I just looked at the medal table again and, I'm being serious here btw, couldn't believe yo didn't pick up any more golds today.  At least you've still got the hockey, but you can't go throwing three zip leads away like that.

if you were watching the game you would know we deserved to be much further ahead then 2-0 at half time, the ref had no idea but it doesn't matter we will get through undefeated

possible 4 gold in sailing,( one a dead set certainty) sally in the hurdles today, mens hockey, womans hockey, water polo beat favorites china, womens basket ball 2nd favorites and anna meares in the cycling. and theres others.

just looked at the betting megsy, our sailing team might restore some respectability.. 4 of them are odds on to win gold

we've got so many gold medals if we get on even with some of these teams we will easily be ahead of them

silver*

why aren't people talking about japan, 127 million population 2 gold medals

like ive always said, "anything worst than 3rd by the host nation with total medals won will be looked upon as a failure".

russia's breathing down their necks and coming home fast.

why aren't people talking about japan, 127 million population 2 gold medals

They won't be talking about Oz in a few years; the memory of the good old days will have faded.

Oz culture has changed.  The "can do" outback thing has gone.  Your health and safety makes Britain look like a bunch of wreckless suicide bombers - and our system is bad enough.

No.  Your days of running through brick walls and showing the world your remarkable spirit (and it was remarkable) has gone.  Clip boards and water wings have won the day.

Your health and safety makes Britain look like a bunch of wreckless suicide bombers - and our system is bad enough.

No mention of India btw ,1 billion give or take a couple of train carriages - shocking scenes

I read an interesting article the other day.
The guts of the arguement is that countries that are riding on the crest of economic prosperity based on natural resources, tend to slip back in education, (Aust has slipped in the last decade compared to other nations of a similar socio economic standing).
Countries that have no resource industry, invest in their other natural resource -YOUTH.
perhaps this also translates to the sporting Areana,
Has economic wealth robbed our youth of incentive??

Several Middle eastern countries , with enormous oil reserves, rely on people from the sub-continent to do all their work. They are breeding  generations of people who don't know how to work, struggle strive , achive and fail. They can barely change a light bulb (I can change a light bulb, but at work am not allowed too, OH&s!!)

serious discussion plz

yep sunhats and sunglasses with carefully supervised nature walks have replaced the barnstorming footy games and punch ups that we all loved during school breaks. We even had organised fist fights with attendants and pay for admissions to the hedged in alcoves at our school. This creativity and spirit of adventure no longer exists in oz.

I blame our turn coat coachs that have been
bought by our competitors... Treason!

Russia breathing down our necks?  They've got four golds FFs.  They're almost as bad as the convicts.

By the way I like the Aussies, they're generally a good crack. My bro in law is an Aussie And he sent me a letter after the 2002/3 ashes with some ashes in it saying Steve Waugh thought you might want these.  Obviously I gave a bit back following our rwc win later in the year and our subsequent  ashes wins .  We both take it on the chin.  Sometimes however you get one of these nutter types (second coming im looking at you) who simply cannot cope with failure. These people are of course hilarious and it is our duty to point and laugh at these types in the hope they will eventually grow up, but I don't believe they are indicative of all Aussies.  Just to reiterate.... Second coming you are a clown..it is people like you that make All the baiting worthwhile.

what you think I don't get enjoyment out of it too?

total medal tally clown

rob_dylan, you say others need to grow up, but referring to Australians as "as knuckle dragging convicts" does not show much maturity.  There are quite few English posters on here that have the same village mentality, so you should feel comforted by that.

ike ive always said, "anything worst than 3rd by the host nation with total medals won will be looked upon as a failure".

Yes but you do consistently talk absolute tosh don't you? Megsy having 2 or 3 sets of goalposts - has this happened before? So the olmypics are a failure if we get less than 48 medals or is it less than 60 or 70 medals, hang on it's now if we finish less than 3rd? Few i'm glad that's sorted.

spyker....SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETHE

just for you, can you read ??

quote. 31 july

Team GB officials urge public and media not to panic over lack of gold medals, but executives lower maximum target to around 60 from 70

Team GB officials 'not panicked' by Olympic gold medal drought

London 2012 target of 48 medals – ahead of the total Beijing haul – is still very much in sight, promise Team GB chiefs

Owen Gibson, Olympics editor guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 31 July

Team GB officials have urged the public and the media not to panic over their lack of gold medals by suggesting things will change on Wednesday.

But the executives responsible for funding British Olympic sport, UK Sport, have also admitted they are considering reducing by 10 their maximum medal target of 70.

talk about being cocky ****s before the games

poms to be bigger failures if they dont get to 60-70

now as the host nation what an embarrassement if you cant at least match Australia's 58 medals as the host nation in 2000

You mean when Australia got 16 gold medals? LOSERS.

Me seethe - good god you really are a fool aren't you? You are so boring and follow the same pattern with all your posts - type (without enagaging brain), then find some story from the internet to back you up as fact - and the worse thing is that you actually think these quotes of yours really do back you up! The clue is 'maximum target' - not the target but the highest that the team bigwigs thought they could acheive - is that really so hard for you to fathom?
As for your '3rd or it's a failure' well i can't begin to be bothered to point out all the holes in that little theory - even those on this forum are obv a bit embarrased by you now. At least the other posters sometimes post stuff worth reading but you just type nonsense every single time!

A bit of a selective history in the op.  all time gb golds -207. All time medals. 715.  4 th overall

Australia 131 golds 432 medals. Tenth overall.  He seems to have just chosen a few Olympics where they did better than us and
Extrapolated from there.

AUSSIES SEETHING!!!

They now have the same number of Gold medals as the mighty Ethiopia - a nation of flies and starving kids!!!

I Can't stop laughing!

those few were the last 3, if that's how it is then that's how it is

Btw YOU are a sick pom that needs help.........like they all do.hth

Last four including both our home games we have more golds than you.

Haha even the very sober bbc breakfast news is taking he p1ss out of the Aussie gold medal count now. Thing is gb may get four gold medals today, so even if the Aussies do very well with Sally and the sailors theyll probably not gain on us at all.

And the boxing finals haven't even started yet... Have your lot got any boxers? Thought not.

We have plenty of boxes here

Great sense of humour from the Aussies.....

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-08-02/sharing-the-olympic-blame-with-clarke-and-dawe/4173114

Shame secondcoming and megsy can't laugh at himself in the same way.

Sense of humour? They are just saying what the most of us think

think we need to make this australian forum redundant and have a new zealand one instead

Why?

Sport Australia Downgrade Medal Target and Medal Table Placing

http://www.tntmagazine.com/news/sport/london-2012-australia-downgrades-olympic-medals-prediction

Australia has downgraded its London 2012 Olympics medal target from 46 to 36 after the country failed to live up to expectations in sports such as swimming. Australian officials are no longer expecting a top five finish.

It has been a galling Olympics for Australia, which prides itself on being a sporting nation, and as the Games roll on it has become unrealistic for Aussies to expect the medal haul they originally set out to win.

According to the president of Australia's Olympic Committee, John Coates, the country’s lacklustre performance in this year’s Games is down to cuts in funding and poor sports education in schools.

Aussies were left particularly disappointed after star athletes like the originally-cocky swimmer James Magnussen failed in bring in a haul of gold medals. It’s the country's lowest glod medal count in swimming since Barcelona 1992 and the first time since 1972 that Aussies have failed to win an individual medal in the sport.

At present, Australia is 24th on the London 2012 Olympics medals table, with one gold medal, 12 silver and seven bronze.

Particularly wounding to the Aussie ego is the fact that tiny New Zealand has outstripped its neighbour and is 14th on the medal table with three Olympic golds.

Now Coates has decided to bite the bullet and lower the official medal target from 46 to between 30 and 36.

"If you analyse it, it is only in swimming that we are disappointed in the number of medals," Coates the Australian Broadcasting Corp radio.

"In Beijing we got 46 medals of which 20 were in swimming. We have 10 here, so realistically we are not going to get 46 medals – 30 to 36 is more likely."

Coates slammed the Australian government, suggesting its education policy was damaging sport.

"Perhaps the area that needs a lot of attention […] is getting sport back into the school curricula," he said.

"The British are making a big thing of that being one of the legacies they're looking towards and they've been achieving that, a greater emphasis on sport in schools. We need that because we've got to make sure we have a talent pool."

Former Olympian and senior Olympic committee member Kevan Gosper backed up the calls for more funding to be given to Aussie athletes.

"We've been down on the sort of financial support that we were accustomed to when compared with the financial support that's coming through from other countries, particularly here in Europe," he told ABC radio from London.

"The fact is you do need more money in international sports and preparing if you're going to compete with the world."

After throwing eight badminton players out of the Olympics for not trying, the IOC have been accused of double standards after allowing the entire Australian team to stay.

I think the return of black death is overdue.
