hope they don't produce another geelong, where they took a perfectly good horseshoe track and built a trouble stricken shithole, referred to by many as the funnel or the trough. the interference at the new geelong compared to the old is amazing.
please i beg of the powers that be....don't mess up,aim for something like (but not identical to warragul).Bendigo is ok but too small.
can we have a 457 distance(500 yards) so that we can race at world standards for a change...perhaps a 700 or longer and no sideways starts.
I remember plunging on a maiden there from about 10s to 5/4. Ran off an all 8 turns over 450 odd metres & went down a head.
lol Lawnton would be perfect.I remember plunging on a maiden there from about 10s to 5/4. Ran off an all 8 turns over 450 odd metres & went down a head.
do remember a dog named Your Attention...I saw it in a maiden at Lawnton and backed it religioulsy thereafter..it ran second in a national sprint final at wenty behind jessica something? about 9 months later....might have been Jessica Casey.say 89 or 90.

shame the grass tracks are all but gone imo i loved the lawnton circle, beenleigh was great for viewing as was the gabba for atmosphere, gold coast was spacious and toowoomba was special for many reasons.

Whip Tip was my fav Gabba dog. only cos i recall a decent win on it at gabba.
What has happened to Qld dog racing? Why dont they have money to build just one track. Victoria & NSW have built & rebuilt numerous tracks in the time Qld has just lost tracks.

must agree with Ziggy. don't like new Geelong track. they go all over the place in home straight like watching a straight race.
I like Cannington. you can lead or run on along rail or wide.

Very strange to me,I didn't think Ballarat needed to have any improvements.Especialy 3.2 million bucks.I think this gvernment has lost the plot, the money is much needed elsewhere.Minister for racing is from western district I think.Lets hope the upgrade is not like Sale (it was better prior) or the shemozzle when they redid Wangaratta before it closed.

I like unique tracks with their differences. i reckon the sport would be boring if they were all like Geelong & Bulli.
The Gold Coast track (now part of Griffith uni or the hospital) would be the model if you were building the perfect track but from a punting prospect i didnt like it cos too many odds on favs won.

I'm with you Kye. I enjoy the smaller tracks where "predicting" interference can lead you to some nice price winners if you get it right. Having said that I'm old enough to remember Harold Park and there were some five-star specials from box 8 that would regularly go around at 6/4 or 7/4 and rarely got beaten.
