if he was 1/2 the man that you see in the media.

Then he was on tremendous human being,

But I suspect he was even better than what we saw

RIP Gentleman Jim. I will raise a Guinness to this great man, gone too soon. His greatness on the field was not worth a dime against his greatness off the field, not too many that can be said about. Very sad.

RIP Jim...a champion bloke, a champion footballer, a man who cared for the un priveliged and troubled youth, a great ambassador for anything Irish and Australian.
he touched so many lives throughout his journey.

He truly was a remarkable man.

His football career and the transition from Irish schoolboy to Brownlow Medalist is legendary.

But where he proved himself to be a person of exceptional character and determination was in his work with the Reach charity he helped establish. While such high profile and idolised sportsman head off to well paid jobs involving not much more than back-slapping compliments, he got out on the streets and offered a loving hand to kids for which life was starting to get the better of them. His drive and tireless effort reaped so much for so many teenagers.

An enormous loss to the community
