If you backed Fearless Leader the 3.1 Fav in R6 at Geelong you would be very happy with another Gav Lang drive giving it every possible chance ....amazing

terrific holds at Bankstown today for a low grade meeting
the C0's hold more than the Menangle Group 2's again
the 7th had 44k in the win pool which is good to see
there is some life in the old dog yet

Yes Craig that race was run in that 5pm-6pm time slot that invariably holds the most..must get those punters straight out of work. Harness officialdom should probably be trying to run most of their meetings through that 5pm-7pm slot..waste of time anything before about 2pm in the afternoon

its difficult cause i love the night meetings so dont want to lose those but i see what you mean - maybe a 12 race card - 4 races from say 4.30 to 6 and then 8 from 6.30 to 10

Boys I hate to burst your bubble but....yesterday's hold on Bankstown harness can be put down to 2 things. It was a quiet Thursday at the gallops, coupled with delays in races being run. Then add in the run of long shots that got home at the gallops and suddenly you've got the perfect storm of frustrated, desperate TAB punters chasing their money down a deep dark hole.

Interesting bit of info related to this thread, sky channel; owned by tab holdings will recieve first bite of the race fields legislation - estimated to be 1.2million .. Only then can hrnsw find 2m to cover their current funding gap http://www.hrnsw.com.au/assets/files/2010-2013%20HRNSW%20Strategic%20Plan.pdf

Melton appear to be trying to have a slo-mo camera right on the line to show the finishes similar (in a poor man's sense) to Hong Kong. 3 years at Melton and they may be conceding that they do need a camera on the line !! Amazing...how long til they tell us they're broke.

BTW I still have one thing in common with my former standardbred comrades. That word you used. 'PAY'. I'm nearly as good at NOT paying as regular trots folk!!

CEO at HRV more interested in putting cameras on drivers helmets than meeting with Tabcorp execs to discuss shabby treatment of Vic Harness. Vic harness turnover the best of any state but relegated to Sky 2 ??? Embarrassing for a supposed on the ball CEO

Just watched Chris Alford & Ellen Tormey interviewed by Mike Beretta on the Good Friday appeal. Mike must have wondered why they were there & asked Ellen what drives she had coming up - Her reply was that things were rather quiet at the moment but she did have one drive at Echuca tomorrow night. No mention that she recently won the Australian Young Drivers championship in Perth. Chris Alford is suspended for another 7 days so he had no drives coming up. No mention that he is currently Victoria's leading driver & that his daughter Katie suffers from neurofibromatosis & I would imagine has spent a considerable amount of time at the RCH. Surely somebody from HRV could have given him some background information before going to air.

The 1st race at Ballarat tonight is at 5.53pm & the last race at the Melton day meeting is at 6.01pm. I can't recall a night meeting starting before the day meeting finished previously. HRV obviously trying to cash in on the 5pm to 7pm pub tab market.

Half the people that work at HRV wouldnt even know there was two meetings on ! The only thing HRV do is hammer more nails into the coffin of the sport.

I thought it was a 25/1 pop, was just amazed beyond belief it could be layed so short here. It's form here had no depth whatsoever, and the only time it had met trotters of remote relevance it got beaten by a pair who gave it 40m start at the handicaps after having every possible!

AD, I don't have the time to do any form for Victoria, and only take a passing interest.
I only knew the horse, was racing an hour after I read your post.
Agree with your assessment, he looked way out of his depth in that race.

rarely seen anyone drive as many bad races as Mark Hewitt and another example there
on the third favourite drawn behind the long odds on fav cant manage to hold its back even though the fav in front of it didn't come out that hard
a $15k race also - the difference between running second and fourth probably

What A Fine Fella - of course there was no way it would have won the race, but if he gets to the outside it would have had a flashing light on it when it drops a bit in grade next time. Instead he steers it in behind Jack's drive.
Well done old man, bit better price next time offered by the mugs who don't do the tapes
