CHAMPION jockey John Letts has compared Black Caviar's possible Adelaide assault with a visit from the Queen. "It's right up there in the celebrity stakes," he said. "She's nearly untouchable to the normal person, so this will be treated like a Royal visit. It's like the Queen coming to Adelaide. She (Black Caviar) is the Queen of the Turf. "It would be fantastic to see. I've been in the fortunate position to see her up close after some of these wins, and she's just the Queen of the Turf, there's no other way to say it. "They'll queue up to see her. She's the type of horse people might see once in a lifetime - if they're lucky. Of the sprinters, she's the best I've seen." Adelaide's racing fraternity is preparing for confirmation - as early as this coming week - that Black Caviar will at Morphettville attempt the 20th successive victory in her stunning unbeaten career in nine weeks. Trainer Peter Moody has earmarked either South Australia or his home state of Queensland as the venue for a tune-up run before Black Caviar launches her international campaign at Britain's Royal Ascot in June. Adelaide offers the 1200m Sangster Stakes on April 28 or The Goodwood on May 12. Brisbane's Doomben Racecourse stages the BTC Cup on the same day as The Goodwood. In Adelaide's favour is the short travel time from Moody's Melbourne base, compared with an expected flight to ferry the horse to Brisbane. SA Jockey Club chief executive Brenton Wilkinson has cut short a Malaysian holiday to pitch Adelaide's case to the Moody camp. The SAJC was this week scrambling to determine Morphettville's crowd capacity, with expectations of a legion pushing 40,000. More than 35,000 fans rushed to witness Octagonal on a retirement parade in 1997, and 36,500 crammed in when pop sensation Kylie Minogue was the guest of honour at the 1998 Adelaide Cup. Surprisingly, just 9000 devotees attended Adelaide's last brush with racing fame when Takeover Target won The Goodwood in 2009. But even long-time racegoers could not recall a reception to rival the one that greeted Joe Janiack's fairytale sprinter when he hit the front just 200m from the winning post three years ago. Mr Wilkinson said despite the anticipated rush for tickets if Black Caviar was to race in Adelaide, the SAJC would maintain the regular Saturday entry cost of $10 for adults and under-18s free. "We're working with Peter as to what he needs, but all he wants is to cover the cost of getting the horse and his staff here, so that's what we're doing," Mr Wilkinson said. "I pinched myself five times last night just thinking, 'she could be racing here to get the continual winning record'. "Who would've ever thought that would happen for Adelaide? "You'd have to think we'd get 30,000. In our lives, this will never happen again. I honestly believe this would be the biggest racing event for South Australia in history. "To get a racehorse here, of her calibre, they'll be hanging off the walls."

she has been to Brisbane already and the timing is right so I think it'd be a nice thing to do for the crow eaters - especially as both their footy teams will miss the 8 and not win many games between them

Ffs why bother with a race, why don't they just pay an appearance fee for an exhibition gallop
Cmon, Kye. Gives Satin Shoes her chance to show her who the "best mare in Australia" is
and you get to lay her, again, and get your money back
Surely worthwhile
