Totally agree. I noticed on some of the casino slots you can go up to £500 a spin. That's meant to promote responsible gambling is it.

Well clearly it making a difference as Billys just announced closing 700 shops and Ladcrokes/Coral anticipating 900 will close:
https://www.racingpost.com/news/hills-set-to-close-around-700-betting-shops-with-up-to-5-000-staff-affected/388682 https://www.racingpost.com/news/ladbrokes-coral-owner-reduces-number-of-betting-shops-at-risk-of-closure-to-900/388783 My my rough estimate 1600 shops being forced to close might equate to £30,000,000 per annum no longer being lost by punters in the high street. Of course they might just have migrated online which would be tragic. Whilst I have sympathy with anybody losing their job; I have no sympathy for these businesses taking the easy option and expanding out of control without caring a jot about the trail of carnage they create. They have lost most other forms of gamblers due to laziness. My own view is nobody who plays FOBT's is in a good place; a trained monkey could press buttons and lose money just as wastefully. |
