Fortescue is declared for the Scottish National at the moment. Both the horses on 10-5 (143 OR) are actually 4lbs well in as they are now rated 147 so I assume there would be a ballot if both were vying for the last place.

Elliott's comments mean a definite 3 above are likely to be missing , and another 2 he was 50/50 , sounded like he wanted to get Death Duty in .
By:
Sorry guys I totally misread , bloody speed reading He wants Death Duty at fairyhouse and another 3 above Eclair surf there too .
By:
My 40-1 looking good now. But will he get in the race?
By:
I understand there's only one National nevertheless why are Anibale Fly and Blaklion running? They've had so many chances and not getting any younger. Maybe connections will be sporting and allow others a chance for a 1st run in the race.
These are my probable no-show eg Samcro, Lostintranslation, Easysland, Chatham Street Lad, Battleoverdoyen, Coko beach, Kildisart, Freewheelin Dylan and Chris's Dream. |

In a recent interview O'Neil stated easysland an intended runner with jonjo junior riding..
By:
listening to jonjo today cloth cap wont be running if the promised rains come,if the worst thats predicted comes we,ll be looking at heav y,plenty of nons,
as for eclair surf fences are much softer as tiger brushing through tops of everyone shows but if any horse will try to take at least one home it will be eclair surf loves to batter at least one |

43 or 44 (unless it is uprated tomorrow).
By:
My guess is he won't get in, particularly if Elliott runs all eight of his. Horses don't tend to get pulled even if conditions don't suit.

Should be a limit to Horses entered by one stable ..

By:
chatam st lad out,
poker party blacklion both officially in |
By:
I hope Eclair Surf makes the cut. I'm expecting another to defect eg Samcro (20f to 34f); Death Duty and/or Delta Work will not run (Irish National/latter had a hard race against Tiger Roll); Freewheelin Dylan (Irish Nat winner); Battleoverdoyen/Coko Beach (only one will go to post); Lostintranslation (stamina?).
By:
Unlikely O'Leary will pull any out. He floods the field just to stop others from having a chance of beating him !! Hope he does though.
By:
if the rains come cloth cap must be a doubt
By:
Death Duty replaces Battleoverdoyen, and Elliott maintains his 8 runners. Doubt very much two more will drop out.
By:
I hope Gigginstown/Elliot will not flood this race with their charges merely to minimise the chances of others. If so, it's a travesty, and Aintree needs to formulate a fairer system for next renewal. Why run so many? For instance, the max Samcro has run is 26f - he competed over 16f; this is 34f ie 8f further The Irish National is only 29f, and only 29f.
I believe Gigginstown moaning over the weight allocation of Tiger Roll (and withdrawing), then flooding the race with their runners here could enrage other connections deprived of a run. Maybe connections of Blaklion and Anibale Fly would re-consider about their participation; chances aplenty in the past for these two runners, and not improving or getting any younger either. |

scotts nat winner who beat elcair couple of lengths put up 14lb today

By:
1 more to go, and he'll get in. A little more push is needed.
By:
Even if he does not get in tomorrow, he will be 1st reserve so will have another chance.
By:
I hope so. It's annoying to see an owner flooding this race at the expense of others just because they can afford to own more horses - horses not improving but regressing. In the old days I believe runners needed to QUALIFY by running in certain races. If so, what has brought about the change?
The present system is unjust, unsporting and bad for the sport. |
By:
I don't understand why an owner or trainer can not have as many runners as they like.
It's a handicap. If you're in the top 40 then you run. Simple as that. |
By:
Unless you withdraw one that's in the 40 so that another one of yours which isn't in the 40 can run and tough luck on anyone who has bet it and now lose their money without a run and not because the horse is injured.
By:
As far as I can recall (I backed ESB), the race has been like this for as long as there has been good prize money and a limit on runner numbers. It was reported this week that Gordon Elliott learnt the trick (along with a few others) when he was assistant to Martin Pipe who had 10 runners one year.
By:
Had forgotten that but the one big difference is that it was for 8 different owners at a quick glance.
By:
Farclas very doubtful, has going to Irish so Eclair Surf should get in

IN,caribbean boy out lame.

Tom Bellamy on Eclair Surf.
By:
Is Bellamy ok as a jock? I cannot remember backing any of his mount in big races, Sorry!
By:
McManus taken 2 out to get School Boy Hours in
By:
Who did JP take out? The horse I'd like to see taken out most is Samcro. He's out of place and not in-keeping in the race.
By:
Easyland and Phoenix Way
By:
Cheers! Easysland is regressing so rapidly since beating Tiger Roll in the X-Country at Cheltenham ought to be retired like Native River.
By:
easyland will be getting sent to auntie edna,s,she,ll sort him out womams touch

This thing has got a huge chance, I do feel they need to gamble and not try to lead though. He appeared to cope okay at Newcastle with not being in front all the way.
